I am looking at a case where the RX is 90 % generic.

The company is not running any kinds of DM plan.

I have never seen a self funded plan with this high % of Generic usage.

Is this happening at the point of pharmacy, Doctor or price?

It is in a smaller town.

Thoughts?

Re: RX

It surprises me, but does not shock me. The last figures I saw were for 2010 and during that year generics accounted for 75% of the market.

What I can tell you from both observation and personal RX usage, is that many of the larger non-traditional RX outlets (Walmart, Grocery Chains, etc.) have significant generic marketing programs in place. So when you say "small town", this is what comes to mind.

Re: RX

The pharmaceutical industry enjoys a "up to 11 year' market exclusivity on developed brand name Rx's.
Over the past two years, many big brand name Rx's have expired.
During last years AEP under Part D, I ran 100's of "Formulary Finders" for my clients.
I could believe the large % of clients currently taking generics.
