If it is being touted as an energy alternative then you have to calculate in how the electrical charging is produced. If you are just producing coal or oil fired generation down at the plant and transferrring it to the car batteries then it is just a shell game at the macro level.

Also, if it doesnt go vroom vroom, it isnt going to sell so hopefully they put some sound effects in there too.
