That's right, he's to blame. Why? Because he scares the heck out of anybody who owns a business (you know, those things that employ people).
Business people are sitting back doing nothing about expanding their businesses because they are wondering if they will/can survive what Obama is doing to them.
Obama is mandating all sorts of new programs that employers will have to pay for. And regardless of that, the Bush tax cuts are set to expire meaning taxes are going to go up. Business owners see more and more money going out, and are wondering if it will keep coming in.
The problem is O B A M A. And until he goes away, there won't be any improvement in the unemployment picture because nobody trusts O B A M A except the folks who work at ACORN.
The talking heads appropriately pointed out that the last time we saw double digits was 1983. I guess it was too much to expect that they would also mention that 1983 was the year of the first Reagan tax cuts. And then they'd have to mention how unemployment went down, GDP moved up, revenues to the Treasury increased, and all those trivial little details that are not going to happen with the Liberals in charge in 2009.

Which is why the economy is not going to improve. Reagan did the right things to revive an economy, and Obama is doing all the wrong things. Anyone with a head on their shoulders can see that, and business people are not going to invest when they know the guy in charge is messing things up worse.
The U.S was losing 700,000 jobs a month when Obama came into office.
I don't think the small business owners were feeling too good about 2008.
Right, but if something is not working why keep the course. Bush's plans were those of a blind moron. He is gone. It's been B's ship for over a year. He's done nothing but more of the same and even made it harder to have confidence in the American business community.
If he cared and wanted to make fast changes:
We hereby cancel the stimulus plans previously passed. We also cancel all spending other than health and human services and cut taxes across the board. Income tax will be reduced 30%, capital gains cut 50%, etc. We'll do this to put more money in the hands of those Americans that need it, those Americans that want to grow their business, by leaving the money in YOUR hands you will support business growth, you will be empowered to accomplish what we need.
Or...
Instead of all these ear marks and lack of accomplishment from the stimulus package we are giving equal payments to each American that "paid taxes" last year. If you paid tax and didn't not get welfare, or earned income tax credit you will recieve an equal share of the stimulus money. If you received assistance you get a 10% share. You are not motivated to do better so why should we give you more money that you didn't pay into the system? The checks are in the mail. Use the wisely, but use them. Spend them. Support business, grow business.. spend it.

I didnt support the pork programs that were part of stimulus but I did support the funds that were intended to make more credit available.
Those funds, for the most part are still sitting there, or were given to banks but no follow up or enforcement to ensure that they actually made it to consumers and small businesses. Instead the banks used it to purchase other banks or to ease their own cash holding/liquidity requirements.
The person responsible for making that happen is Mr. B. O and B.O. alone. I would cancel the rest of the stupid arse stimulus program and put all the remaining funds right squarely into easing the credit market for main street. We put 2 million of stimulus funds into removin algae from the duck pond in a city park in my area. Can't wait until spring to see how that has improved my life.
------------------------------------ Spending Our Way to Prosperity
Suppose your wife talked you into loaning her worthless brother $100,000 to buy a house with the argument that it would put him on his feet and would represent an "investment" since he would have a mortgage-free house.
Then your worthless brother-in-law announces that he didn't buy a house after all but will keep your money anyway to buy something that he wants, like a penile implant or whatever. In any event, you ain't getting your money back and it isn't going for anything that is of use to you.
In a nutshell, that is what our government is doing to us -with a penile implant.

This is almost 2008 and this crisis is Bush's fault. We can't place any blame on the current president. He can have no effect on our economy. If it wasn't for GW Bush we'd all be happy and our housing market would be increasing at 10% a year still.
When Obama becomes president, watch out! He'll fix everything!
