Sweet, looks like its going to be open season on Humana since they went from 0 premium to $ 38 in this area. They sent troops of agents in my county in 06 and wrote everybody and their brother. This year its going going to be like shooting fish in a barrell. My phone has already been ringing.

Does anyone know what UHC is paying for renewals for old business?
About an hour ago, got a call (not official until Monday), but UHC at $400-$200. At least it seems it is better than most the others. Of course, what agents have to remember is that all this has to be approved by CMS. Who really knows? Six months from now the dust may settle.

Ok... now I'm starting to get upset. I'm realizing that I'm about to work for a couple of weeks for the sole benefit of my clients and due to the ignorance of my governing body... I'll actually LOSE money.
I do a monthly newsletter. About 80% of my clients are on Humana's Enhanced drug plan. The dang premiums doubled this year, generic copays almost doubled, tier 2 went up $15 tier 3 hit $70. Coventry has their Value plan... $23/mo, $8 generics and $24 tier 2 and $55 t3.
No friggin rocket science to see the value in Coventry's plan. It is looking great for a ton of my clients that have already called in their drug list. Most are on a few t1's and maybe one/two t2's... add that savings to the $180/year in premium savings... it can make a big difference to a senior living on a fixed income.
So by the time you count my time, postage, lost renewals on the plan in place... I'm losing money to help my clients. Don't even get me started on the clients I'm mailing packages too that are too far away to drive to... those take extra phone time.
Silver lining though... I picked up six new medicare supplement clients this week "helping" my clients... referrals are golden.
Any word on CIGNA? I can't seem to find their numbers anywhere, and their plans, here in the Atlanta area are pretty good. Will be telling Humana bye bye for now, with the exception of the one couple that it's a very good fit for.
THIS IS WHAT the entire medicare agents industry has to do!......That is how we go to this mess this year...Through some no nothing congressman in Cailf....We all need to put presure on our congressman and senators....reagrding these issues.........A written letter , not just a phone call......The issue is we do not really have any type of lobby group formed to address these issues. AHIP did not do anything to help us as far as I can see..I am writing my letters today! Please ALL of us need to do this.........before the DEMOCRACTS take over......Tell your Democrat congressman (and Rep. too) and senators you object to the new rules and comp structure.........

I'm guilty of not calling this in to my local office; just curious if others have done more than complained here. Perhaps they're not getting enuf protest from the agent peeps?

I find CIGNA to have some good plans............However there brokers service sucks..........They have no Broker service line...They refer ALL questions to the FMO......WHo know just about the same as us .......nothing.....Even when I want to sell them...........I can not get the information from them...

Mking, I agree with you. However, don't you think CMS will be more responsive if the Medicare Beneficiaries rise up with the complaints about how limiting and long the process is, in such a short amount of time, and how difficult it is for them, under these guidelines, to have the opportunity to select the best plan?
I am encouraging each Medicare Beneficiary I work with to write Kerry Weems personally.
I agree with Bob regarding the Medicare Beneficiary writing and contacting Kerry Weems. We need positive messages regarding how we help and questioning their efforts to make this a long and complicated process.
Cigna in Atlanta (Fulton Co.) has MAPD PFFS at $58 and $133 which does not compete with Coventry, Secure Horizons, or Wellcare. It does compete well with Humana. Cigna is a good company and hopefully they'll do better in Medicare. My information comes off the CMS spreadsheet as I have not seen a Cigna Brochure. They may be better based on their extra stuff.
I saw somewhere on one of these post that all renewals are going to be paid at the 2009 rate, even clients that we wrote in 2007 or 2008. Anyone have any info on that.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select "View Plans" and pick your state, etc.

(This is hush-hush! sh-h-h-h-h!)

To be truly independent, an agent should not be dependent on a government bureaucrat for contracts or commissions.
