Thank you Sman. Finally someone who appreciates where we as agents have come from. Back in the 90's we were getting paid $50 for enrolling a person into an MA. And we were ecstatic!
As for after six years all you need to do is sell your book of business and buy a new one and then you can be the servicing agent for another six years. Its a shame I know, but that is the only solutions I can think of.
Not sure I understand the selling the book of business statement. CMS isn't going to allow commissions on a beneficiary if they've been enrolled in any plan (regardless of carrier) for 6 years. After that, these beneficiaries will be on their own.
Just got off the phone with a lady who was very frustrated and confused. She said, "you don't know how happy I am to find someone who understands all of this and can make sense of it". I told her not to get used to it because in a few years we won't be getting paid to do it thanks to CMS. She then said, "Oh, I will gladly pay you to handle it for me". Looks like it's time to start a consulting business.
I believe that an agent can only get paid on a person for 6 years, but after that the renewal stops, if a new agent writes them up it begins another six years.
I am only going by word of mouth, so again, I may be incorrect.

Interesting? I thought it was a total of 6 years for that beneficiary. If it is in fact based on the agent and beneficiary, then looks like we'll be partnering up with other agents to swap clients.
From my FMO at 5:09pm this evening...
I am just passing this on. I have no idea what they are talking about.
Yesterday at 5:00 p.m., CMS held a conference call with the Medicare Advantage carriers regarding commission. Shortly before that call, a CMS document was circulated, which some of you have attempted to read and determine what your commission may be.
At this hour, the Medicare Advantage carriers are conferencing with AHIP regarding commission.
We have had feedback from one carrier which said essentially … “expect something good”!
The carriers are all working feverishly and will late into the night this evening to formulate the highest commission possible for you.
We believe you will have a very attractive compensation for 2009 sales and will have your best year ever.
We’ll keep you informed of developments…
Yesterday, I was an Independent Agent.
Today, I'm a Rent-A-Agent.
And in five years, I'll be a Dependent-Agent.
Today, I tryed to place an MedSupp with my 85 year old client. She has a notch income and can't afford a MedSupp. She's been a client for 20 years now. I couldn't inform my old friend about the new consumer friendly CMS Rent-A-Agent rule.

I'll belive it when I see it
.... "Working feverishly"... yeah, right! It's now the 14th and still no word.
News Flash! "A round table of insurance carriers were spied playing poker well into the night, and later the next day had the golf course reserved for their parties..." more news at 11:00..............

To be truly independent, an agent should not be dependent on a government bureaucrat for contracts or commissions.
I'm trying to find people who would like to sign people up for a product ON TOP of the MA plans they are saling to double their commissions. No licenses or certifications are needed. The product is power chairs.

You should contact Parker and Asses. It appears that you would be a perfect fit for them.
I dont see the prob with larymes' post. If you helped a Sr with a Med Advantage plan why wouldn't want to help them with another product they could use. Staying with in the rules of not selling in the same appointment. Why not go back to see if you can help them with FE, wheelchairs, diabetic supply, etc ... I we are insurance salesman, right ? a lead is a lead ...
First, "Offers" shouldn't be in this forum, they should be in the one the says "Offers". Second, when you make a serious offer, you should probably take a few minutes to put some effort behind it. Maybe read it when you are finished and make sure it looks and sounds right . . . possibly do a spellcheck?
I wouldn't consider doing business with someone that approached me that way.

Why don't we just tell CMS to go fly a kite. They work for US. They make $138K + benes + expense accounts + retirement, and all for working with 100 days off a year. I'd sure like that plan!!! "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!!!!" If only these people would use their head for something besides keeping their ears apart. Why does a politician wear two hats? One to talk through and one to throw to the crowd! This MA/MAPD stuff used to fun. They have taken care of that. Med sups, here we come. Those have been around for years too, but don't have the restrictions. I sold them before and I can sell them again.
I think kdover is correct, and I support his comment.
Furthermore, I think larymes should be banned from this forum. You need to read some of the other posts he has made and the responses to them, especially from Dave020.
