Thank you again! I am listening... I know it go both ways. He had (you guessed it somarco) cholesterol issues 4 years ago but they are hoping that is no longer an issue.
I don't want to spread sheet this, but you are right BNTRS, it seems like I do, because I don't have experience with choosing a good co or a good GA (IMO, BGA, MGA).
Insure01, I've contacted you to see if I could get the phone number for the GA in Covina. Thanks.

I will guess that if he had cholesterol issues before and is not taking any medication for it that you will find it still high on the exam....just going out on a limb here.

Have you tried Brokers Alliance yet? They specialize in riskier underwriting. Top GA, and most every life agent with 10+ years of experience in the industry knows Joe Racich as a stand-up guy who runs a top notch GA. The owner of this forum will vouch for him as well.

Depending on the cause of cholesterol, it can be controlled and significantly lowered with lifestyle changes. Not so much if the cause is genetic.

As others have indicated, carriers underwrite differently. A std rate with one might be preferred with another carrier with the same numbers.

It would help for you to know his numbers from 4 yrs ago as well as what they are now as well as his meds (if any). Take those figures and meds and bounce it off a good life GA.

"Hoping that" his numbers are better. That indicates he is not under treatment. Most folks on chol meds get it checked regularly. If he doesn't know his readings he is probably not a good prospect. You are just doing trial and error.

If only there was an association that could help agents with these types of questions, including an "ask the underwriter" feature with responses by the next business day.

Oh where, oh where can this be found?

Liars and in serious self denial over their health problems. I have had two people tell me, it's only MS, not really a big deal.
