Do you really think that the gun owners in this country will let the government take our guns?
No one wants to take your guns away. But I would gladly support a law that says you can't carry one concealed or un-concealed in public.
Do I think you arch-cons could/would go "postal" like the Ft. Hood killer?
In a Hollywood minute.
Guns don't kill people. People with guns kill people. You're a guy who carries a gun to WalMart. Do I think you could/would kill someone whom you just decided didn't have the right to live?
In a Hollywood minute.
That is my honest assessment of you. I'm not calling you "a name." It is simply how I see you. Having read your posts here in this venue, you terrify me.

I know you think you are being cute, and that you think you haven't called me a name, but you are basically saying I would wantonly murder for no legitimate reason.
Al, if you are kidding, it's a bad joke and you should apologize.
If you are serious, you really are suffering from clinical paranoia just like that guy who shot up Fort Hood. And don't tell me you don't have the means to allow your paranoia to cause harm to others.
That shotgun you own, and which you have posted pictures of on this forumn, wasn't made to hunt turkey or shoot trap. That weapon is every bit a device designed to kill other human beings as a pistol. And I've never seen anyone target shoot with one of those although I have seen many target shoot with pistols.
You know, like the pistols your wife rents to target shoot with.
And Al, did you say you were a member of the NRA. Here is that organization's position on carry/conceal:

Not would... could.

Apologize for telling the truth... that you and arch-con "Glock-on-the-leg" types terrify me? Not even in your dreams, Robert.
How did this go from AARP and healthcare to guns? Oh well another day at the Insurance Forums.
But I'll play along and here is my gun prediction:
The government has my name, address and the serial number of the last 9mm handgun I bought -courtesy of the Brady Bill. At some point, and you can take this to the bank, handguns will be outlawed either from the feds based on some "emergency" or it will creep in locality by locality. I will then be given a 6 month grace period to turn my gun in or face felony charges. Then, the knock on the door will come and I will be faced with lying about the location of the gun or doing some hard time. Rifles will be next, then shotguns.
A tyrannical government's worst fear is an armed population.
I don't think so. After 90% of gun owners are bullied into turning in their guns, the remainders will be a fairly simple mopping-up operation. Any resistence will result in a SWAT visit. Just look at Australia for a sorry example. Gun Control in Australia --- Chaos Down Under
As the Borge was fond of saying "Resistence is futile."
I currently don't own a gun but if I saw any significant piece of legislation that would ban them and it was about to get signed into law I'd run out and buy 10, hide 'em all over the place and immediately report all of them stolen.

I have an 1861 Springfield .58 Caliber hanging over my fireplace. Unlike you guys, I am not having any trouble finding ammunition. Just cast my own bullets and have several cans of black powder in the garage. I used to have the Ruger Army .44 caliber revolver.black powder too. My father was a cheapskate and took some of my 12 guage shotgun shells once to use in his gun. He was some surprised when he fired at a bird to find that I had loaded them with black powder to go in my double barrel black powder shotgun (the turn of the century shotguns were not muzzleloaders but the shells still took blackpowder) I didnt tell him he could have any of my shells anyway. Better than the other way around. Never ever fire shells with modern powder in gun meant for black powder shells. Not pretty.
That's one way to get around the ammunition shortage.

Wouldn't it be grand to have guys in black suits come tear up your house looking for your 'stolen' guns? I'm sure your kids would love seeing mom and dad ziptied in the kitchen. These people aren't very friendly you know?
