They have a decent commission structure with a fair bonus program. The commission is tired to where you could get large commission if you are writing seven figures in premium.
I see what they are trying do with these new plans. They are wanting to have at renewal time multiple options for the client to reduce premium. Its not a bad approach to keeping someone on the books for 3yrs.
I just recently started writing business with AC both on small group and individual this year. There individual HSA product has a great accident benefit but no preventive services. Its priced 7% under market right now.
I was just looking for feedback on the flex since in been in other states since Jan 08.
The flex is a good plan and priced right. If you are familar with the Med II it has some of the same benefits but allows you to take some off instead of "all inclusive". It still has the accident benefit that waives the deductible embedded in the base plan and has a doctor copay option which has unlimited doctor visits and $1 K of preventative. I personally wouldn't add the drug card option, see no need when you weigh in price, and then rx ded, copays and if the condition is present at time of UW, the rate up. Still has the 5 Mill lifetime. A few differences are; no mental nervous coverage, 12 month waiting period on elective surgeries such as varicose veins, cataracts, bunions, etc. If you don't select the doctor copay, all prev. care is subject to ded. I like the plan.

You see no need to add a drug card? say what? i know your in az but with texas health insurance if u write a health policy without rx that policy will be gone within 6 months

I can't spell, I can't write..... and I can't be bothered if you dont like it... got it???

One of two things will happen.
A good agent will come behind you and kill your deal by writing a REAL major med.
Or your client will realize how foolish they were to listen to your advice . . . after it is too late to do anything.

Here is an example...If i am writing a family of 4 and the Rx option is $85/month in premium, plus they would have to meet their $250 Rx deductible, plus copays on top of that and they are healthy at time of writing. Believe it or not, some people choose the plan without the rx card to save money. But others prefer it, i lay it our for them and let them decide. Consumers are more educated than you think, its not advice, its their decision. The plan is full major medical and the company has been around longer than Blue Cross. Much more comprehensive that most plans out there

Do you bother to tell them how much their cancer meds will be if they get cancer?

Do the right thing because it's simply the right thing to do.
Chemo's covered, cancer meds such as Avastin is is not unless you select the Rx card which would be a $250 copay per rx and a $2500 OOP max for the insured (not the limit on the benefit)
The American Community Flex plan is being released in my state as of 3-1-09.
I would like to get feedback from anyone selling this plan in other states.
The 60% co insurance plan looks like it has potential?
The $5,000 2 years rate lock looks interesting?
Thx
The Medalist II is still a better plan in my opinion, at least for as long as we can continue to offer it until the end of the month. Regardless, I personally will not push the Flex 60 but I'll probably go with the Flex 80. The 24 month rate lock is good, and that with the Accident Waiver make it an attractive plan to offer SOME clients.
Just replaced this plan in Michigan (customer had it for 1 week).
The agent told the customer:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Just replaced a Community Flex in MI.
The agent told the customer:
1) It's HSA eligible
2) Covers RX
3) No deduct for Wellness/Preventative
4) Family deductible
It's NOT a good plan.
Only dishonest agents will sell it.
There are a ton of plans with better benefits that cost less.

No its a good plan but you have to design it for the clients needs.
Your example is of a bad agent not product.
I will say this that AC is really trying to be a player in the market again. They have even started building their own network.
I think they can be a good tool in the tool box but you have to know the product and know how to sell it properly.
