An acquaintence of mine is considering contracting with an FMO called Americans Protecting Families and asked if I knew anything about them. They focus on MA with their carriers being Coventry, UHC and Health Net.

Anyone familiar with them? I've never heard of them. They are associated with something called the Kingdom Group. They offer preset appts. in exchange for a cut in commission, of course.

When you google americans protecting families an NAA site comes up, but I don't know if they are affiliated with them.

A poster in MI used Kingdom Group with nothing but bad things to say about them. I think it was Honestagent. You might find something if you search the forum.

I have less than nothing bad to say about Kingdom. I found them to be unethical in dealing with seniors. Just my opinion. They said it was perfectly fine to set an appointment for a PFFS (with copays) for dual-eligible (no copay). The company I was using agreed with me and even sent out a notice that we should not enroll medi-medi into their plan.

I'd stay far away from them.

If you are thinking of full Medicaid or QMB, I agree totally (and I'm sure that's what you have in mind.) For the type of wolves you describe, anyone who can fog a mirror and has a red white and blue card should be sold to.

When I worked for Humana it wasn't uncommon to have an appointment set with someone who had full Medicaid. This was either due to the telemarketer not qualifying the member or not caring, just wanting to set as many appts as possible.

I don't know how it works in other states, but in LA, SLMB (where Medicaid pays their Part B premium and nothing else) is considered part of Medicaid as well (they have a card) and can still be a prospect for MA since they have A/B only.

Re: Americans Protecting Families?             Go to Top

I think Americans Protecting Families is headed by a woman named Dana Herman in Southern California. If this is the group, thought she became licensed in 2006 and started recruiting agents to solicit agents to sell MA. One conference call said they especially wanted those who were making a career change from the real estate & mortgage industry. They advertised heavily on craigslist and promising about a 50% close ratio with preset appts via the Kingdom Group. Making $1k daily right off the bat, especially since it would be a slam-dunk to sell the SecureHorizon\AARP product with $0 additional premium to seniors. I asked if I could speak to one of their new recruits who had a track record of achieving this or, and never got a return phone call to substantiate their claims. That's when I started googling and found this forum. Turns out the monthly premium in my county was $100 for the AARP\SH product and that Healthnet and Kaiser is a better buy. Basically, if this is the group that I think it is, I'd say stay away.
