Thank you for your opinions !

No problem.

Re: indexed annuity, what is a minimum cash requirement for that vehicle?
I have a variant of mandolin's issues, only with considerably less cash. I get to do RMD's with table ii so that is working for me right now. Your comments give me some other things to read about and learn about as I have time-just not sure the cash involved makes other significant effort worthwhile.

You can purchase an Indexed Annuity for as little as $10k. It varies from carrier to carrier. American Equity, Athene, and American General are all strong options that will start in the $10k-$25k range.

The reason to choose annuitization is for the payout to be a source of monthly income. Wealthy investors who use annuities as tax shelters will typically opt for other forms of distribution.
A key factor to consider here is how much money you have saved in assets outside the annuity contract. If, for example, you have another $100,000 in liquid savings elsewhere, annuitization may be an appropriate choice because you have other assets to draw upon in the event of an emergency.
