Just got this e-mail this morning. Anthem CA is dropping the following MA plans for this coming season:

PFFS Enhanced
PFFS Enhanced Plus
RPPO (Freedom Blue) Plan II
MSA MAPD (SmartSaver - both plans)

Wow, let the games begin. This year I am only doing Supps, no MA nor MAPD.

I got an email that Unicare is dropping some of their MAPD plans in Michigan, not all of them, but quite a few.

Should be an interesting year.

I didn't write bcbs ma plans, does this include the smart value and smart value plus?

Their PFFS plans basically sucked and there was no need for 2 PPO plans. The only difference was one had a $500 deductible and the other a $1000 deductible (can't remember which plan was which). However, to reduce your deductible by $500, you paid a $50 monthly premium. (Yes, $600 paid to the company to save you $500!)

The MSA was a great concept but never worked in California - even by Anthem's admission. I wrote a bunch of people and all but 4 went back to their supps or other plans. Guess I'll be able to write 4 new med supps shortly.

Yes, sorry it's the Smart Value MSA plans, both are gone.
