The AFLAC market is over-saturated. If you want to do workplace benefits, go with a competitor of their's. I went with Colonial Life and it has beed a great income for me while I start my own agency. I do workplace during the day and do my own life and health in the afternoon and evening.
In my opinion, AFLAC would be easy to replace by any competitor, the hard part is getting people to listen to your story. EVERYONE LOVES THE DUCK!!!! If you can get in the decision makers office, you've got a good chance.
I go in their office to offer options instead of replacing. Since I am an old car guy I use this analogy: I ask,
Do you mind SHARING with me what type of car do you drive?
Oh, so how do you like your Yugo?
Let me ask you a question. Let's say that the only car on the planet was a Ford Crown Victoria, that is the only choice you had, you would not have had the oportunity to buy the better vehicle, the Yugo. Aren't you glad that is not the case. Your Yugo gets 128 miles to the gallon and the Ford get's 12. Aren't you glad you had a choice?
Make sense?
Well the same thing applies to your employees insurance coverage. Let's say that your employees have insurance with company A(A for AFLAC), and let's say they are paying $50 per month for disability insurance that will pay them 50% of the gross income if they are sick or injured and can't work.
Now lets say they also have the option of going with company B, and for the same $50 per month thay can get 66 2/3% of their gross pay per month, which insurance plan do you think your employee's would take, if YOU give tham that choice?
I never mention the companies by name. The employer will figure that out on his/her own, because everybody has AFLAC, and you don't get slammed for bad talking a competitor(NEVER A GOOD IDEA)
Go in planning on offering options and when you do the enrollment, people will switch, and you got past the business owner. He/she will love you
