Aricept and Med Supplement             Go to Top

Recently met a client that is prescribed Aricept in the past for preventive purposes only. She has never been diagnosed with Alzheimers or dementia. Is their any med supp company that would accept this risk. As well Her doctor told her last month she no longer needs to take the medication any more. She is located in Oklahoma.

I guess my gut says ask her to get her medical record from the doctor -- especially if she is telling you she no long needs Aricept. Was she misdiagnosed? Did she tell you this after she was told she would not be able to qualify for coverage?

That's going to hurt her for a long time. That drug is now on her drug MIB report and every company out there will see it. You will have to get supporting documentation from the doctor. If the company orders medical records that case has a 98% chance of getting declined. There is usually enough information in a seniors records to make them decline a case no matter why they are looking... all info in there is used.
