What Are the Steps I Need to Take to Be Licensed to Sell Insurance in New Mexico?

I am aware that in states like Texas, I don't need to work under a licensed agent/broker to be able to get my pre incensing to then get my license. Would I have to in New Mexico? I'm sorry for basic questions like this that might seem simple for you guys, i'm a current finance student who is interested in insurance. Thanks!
