Is it just me, or are Assurants rates appearing to more competitive in Texas...?? I have been writing a fair amount of Assurant lately, and the non-copay rates have been very competitive and even beating alot of the other guys. I know Assurant has a bad reputation in TX for their rates, but maybe I've just been writing in good zip codes...
Assurant- zipcode 75067 one male 35 with 31 year old spouse both non smokers and 3 children. I have the Max plan( 1000ded,80/20,35office copay,3000oop) at $1096.15
Unicare- Same zip and family under Fit plan on (1000ded, 80/20,30 off copay, 3000oop) at $618.00
Fit plan has $250.00 brand name prescript ded and Assurant $500.00 + 20% copay on brand name.
$479.00 a month savings going with Unicare!
Unicare HSA - zip 75067 - male 40, female 40, 2 kids. $5,000 individual, $10,000 family deductible at 80% coinsurance. Drug copay start after the deductible? Rate = $482
Assurant HSA - same info - $5,700 individual deductible, $10,000 family at 80% coinsurance. Drugs are free after deductible - $452
Personally I like 100% coinsurance but it doesn't like Unicare has that option.
That's Assurant all the way. Plus you add accident production and the free HSA account. Doesn't look like Unicare has a HSA admin.

Shhhhhhhh....you keep the Assurant agents thinking they have the best rates so we will have stuff to replace....
First of all, no 100% coinsurance for family HSA for Unicare? That stinks.
Secondly - male 45 in 78613 Unicare $142. HSA "compatible?" That's trailer trash. Tell them to get an admin. I'd certainly like to know what the benefits are for:
Durable medical equipment
Therapy
Skilled nursing
Hospice care
Ground/air ambulance
I guess it's a secret. The Unicare webite apparantly wants me to apply without knowing.
Assurant - same quote - $184 for the regular HSA - preferred is $159.
I'd take Assurant - far superior plan. You can hammer me on PPO copay plans and rates in TX - but Assurant's HSA is superior.
Why would anyone recommend a copay plan anyway? Why doesn't Unicare have 100% family coinsurance? Where's all the policy details?
Durable medical equipment covered
Therapy covered...and you do not really want me to tell you how assurant covers this..
Skilled nursing covered
Hospice care covered
Ground/air ambulance covered

What if you could get the Benz for $50 more a month then the Chevy? Caps on AIDS? Ambulance? $360 benefit for therapy? Scott....you've lost your mind. Assurant is clearly far superior coverage.
You can sell based on rates - I'll sell based on value.

little more than that.......45,45,3 kids 78613....looking around I see more chevys on the road than benz's.....
HSA Compatible Plan 2 $5450 ded. then 80/20..... $374.00
Ass.one ded $5700 ded then 80/20.......$498.97
Ass.one ded $4200 ded then 100%......$720.24.....compared to the prem diff. on plan 2...$4,154.88 a yr. in cash in my clients pock....
HSA Compatible Plan 3 $10,000 ded then 100%......$298.00.compared to the prem diff. on 1ded above..$5,066.88 a yr. in cash in my clients pock
The question is Scott, do you compare both Assurant and Unicare plans to your clients, point out that Assurant has better coverage for a higher rate and let them choose? Or do you just ram Unicare up their ass?

So you're telling me you get what you pay for? Cheap rates = cheap coverage? Imagine that.
