Acquiring Insurance Temporary for Proof of Registration

Hi,

Wondering if there is a way to acquire insurance only temporarily in order to show proof of insurance at the CA DMV to obtain the registration renewal sticker for my vehicle. The reason I don't want to keep the insurance is because I am selling the vehicle today. So I don't need the insurance for a whole year. Just need to show proof of insurance to obtain the registration. Registration fees have already been paid as well as the reinstatement fee of $14. Any suggestions?

Also, most insurance companies have an early termination fee for canceling early, so I am wanting to avoid that as well.

Why would you register it to sell it? Have the buyer insure it. Do you have other cars?
