Interested in Selling P&C, but Confused About a Few Things.

Sounds like you are really motivated. You might want to try working with an online wholesaler first. Once you have momentum going with a particular carrier, you can then probably get a direct appointment.

If you have the motivation and willinness to learn - then go for it. You might really like the P&C side.

How do online wholesalers work? I'm assuming you take information then submit back to them to quote with a shared commission or something similar to that?

The simplest solution is to find a local P&C agent that will work with you. He can appoint you into his agency, you will end up sharing the commission, but, then the office staff can deal with the calls.

Keep in mind, P&C has a much higher operational expense than life, health, or most anything else. 90 policies a year will not be profitable. You'll find your E&O coverage will eat up a good chunk of that. By working through a local agency, they will probably cover the expenses, in exchange for a cut of the commission. Then, if you decide you want to get serious, you'll have a better understanding of what to do.
