Out of State Resident

I live in NYC, but maintain a car in Massachusetts. It is garaged and registered where garaged. As I get a NY license, I was told my insurance coverage may be deemed invalid if in an accident since my (new) legal address is in another state. Can anyone offer any insight into this situation??

This may be different in another state so best to consult a local agent. However, here in WA, the mailing address and the garaging address are two completely different things. I have lots of people who live in another state, but have a car in WA (and usually a house but not always) that have an out of state mailing address. I even have people with Canadian addresses because a lot of them have property here and keep a car here as well. Unless there is some funky law (which there might be in NY and MA) that prevents it, the carriers shouldn't have a problem. Like I said, find a local agent, where the car is to be garaged, and ask them.
