Nice to hear an opinion from a Progressive employee. Seems like just MORE hype to me too.

Progressive "Snapshot" Program Re: Progressive "Snapshot" Program
Wonder if they would let me just put one in my pickup and tahoe and not my challenger?? The idea is being looked at by a bunch of insurers and nobody is standing in line yet to sign up...besides the seniors.

Maybe a more marketable approach would be to parents of youthful drivers...I'd be more interested in the gps gizmo when my girls start drivingespecially if they have one that will allow me to disbale the car from my living room.

This is all going totally off the reservation. Seriously.
That's fantastic! It sure beats all those weight loss diets. Are you an agent for the company that makes them, John?

You just reminded me the fearmonger Alex Jones about Carbon Tax when he said that the government will install gps tracking devices on all cars so they tax you by the mile. If that happens and we switch to electric we should be good, but 45 mph max speed on highways lol.

Progressive "Snapshot" Program Re: Progressive "Snapshot" Program
I've been on this program for about four years now. Actually, I have four drivers and four vehicles on the policy. Two adults and two teenagers. The device is only installed for the first six months. After that, the discount is determined and the device goes back to Progressive. We get between 19% and 30% off on each vehicle. The discound is determined by the number of hard breaks you have and how much you drive at high risk times. I drive a lot and got 19% off. I undersand that this is not for everyone, but I really believe that Progressive is doing it to promote safe driving habbits and by rewarding those of us who do have good driving habbits. Having a system that tells me how I'm driving I think is good as it allows me to improve my driving habbits to be safer. I enjoy having lower rates. Thank you Progressive.

My only concern was that I drive 44 miles a day for a commute. Progressive says that driving over 30 miles a day will not likely benefit the insured. They say your rate won't go up. Also, they say they don't monitor speed. I could care less if they are monitoring where I go and what I do. I am not a politician and I am not ashamed of where I go and what I do.

I received mine yesterday and will give it a try. Thanks for your post.

X2!

F... Snapshot! I have not suggested it to one person and I won't...they lost money on the other program my rate because people didn't return the devices and did not complete the program. I think this will end up that way also...but there are many companies looking at this model. I don't like it and it's dumb...you keep the device for 6 months and the discount will remain the same even if your usage changes after that because the device is returned after 6 months so they wouldn't know.
