Hey I'm in California and after buying my car about 2 weeks ago I got hit on my way to work. I was driving through the community and he hit me backing out of his driveway. I really doubt that I would be held liable in this situation BUT I still havent gotten around to getting insured! I just got his information tonight and I have avoided telling him that I am uninsured. Even though he is clearly at fault, he has been denying responsibility W.e did not file a police report. He busted up my rear passenger door and I could probably get it fixed for about $400 but what is going to happen if I call his insurance to make a claim? Should I avoid that and bite the bullet and take care of it myself? Thanks!

If you're uninsured and a insured vehicle hits you you're out of luck. California law requires you to have insurance. If you put in a claim it will be denied. Its very irresponsible to drive without insurance.
