What's with all these young kids so eager to buy a bmw or lexus or cadillac? I see it every week. They call from the dealership ready to pick up the car without even checking rates, assuming it will cost $25 a month. Then they get upset when they find out it's $725 a month because they're 17.

Kids aren't the only ones to blame here. I've seen adults make some silly decisions.... for example: someone with a bad driving record going from an older car with liability (but yet reliable) to buying a new car and financing it. Many of which would be a year or less away from their driving record cleaning up.

something I learned that has been a big time saver.... when I get a call from a client saying "I'm going car shopping tomorrow .......".

the first thing that I do is pull up their driving record, and if it isn't clean, I look for dates ..... then be prepared to give them a dose of reality. it really helps prevent wasted time fooling with unrealistic quotes.
