Best Option for This Family STM Georgia?

I don't do a lot of individual health insurance and need some help. Family lost group coverage May 28...... Male 56, Fem 47, Son 7, .. 30742... both tobacco, no major health or build issues, They need a short term plan lowest cost to maintain some coverage till new group plan in a few months. Suggestions?

STM plans don't rate for tobacco. Personally, I don't like to suggest STM unless you know for certain they will only need coverage for 60 days or less. Otherwise both of you can get in a lot of trouble.

Looks like they can get a plan for $245 per month.

Make sure to take special note of the "per-confinement" deductible on Golden Rule's STM. Assurant's STM, on the other hand, has a per policy period deductible.

I believe that is changing, or may have already. Something did/will on their STM. Just can't remember what it was.

If you think you will need coverage longer than 60 days you really should go with a traditional major med plan.

Oh, I didn't realize that. The only brochure I have for it is the one they mailed me in my broker welcome packet. Thanks for the heads up!

I talked with a GR rep a couple weeks ago that confirmed in VA that the deductible will now be per policy period on their more expensive plan. The cheaper plan is still per-incident.
