Install Google Analytics. It's free and amazingly powerful. Watch out though, once you have it installed you may find yourself spending lots of time looking at who's visiting your site.

If you're running Wordpress, you can easily find a Google Analytics plugin, just search on it.

If you love to write, then it won't be much of a hassle maintaining a blog. Just make you sure that you write interesting and relevant topics so that readers will keep coming back.

I really enjoy personal blogs with pictures and personal accounts of day to day life, but with an insurance blog purposely made for business, you have to be a bit creative so that it won't look entirely boring.

This is a bit creative. I am justifying why I DON'T write policies with a particular carrier (most of the time). But if their rates change, I'll change my tune as well.

I always wonder who are the people behind these viagra spams, what do they get out of it? Are they making real business? I dont click the their link everytime I encounter these spams, I just junk it right away. And they are pretty clever, they always find a way to make it to your inbox.

It's pretty bad sometimes. We go back and forth about whether to turn off commenting entirely because like you said, the amount of real comments tends to be very small. That being said, I believe this changes if the blog builds up a decent following of people who are truly interested in what you have to say.

Depending on what CMS (content management system) you are using comment spam is a huge problem. Wordpress/Blogger both have some great tools for weeding that out.

It seems having a blog is a must these days. However finding the time to contribute on a regular basis is also a must if you intend on building up return visitors.

Use Askimet with your blog so you don't have to worry about deleting spam comments. It automatically does it for you. I installed in on my blog at Cost Savings Tips for all your important expenses

Ive read good reviews about askiment. You don't have to worry much about legitimate comments being blocked. It can still let a few spam comment through - but the margin of error is small.

FYI for those of you looking for the wordpress anti-spam plugin: the correct spelling is "akismet". No matter how you spell it, it works wonders!

You'll also want to make sure you keep your wordpress install up-to-date as there's the constant cat-and-mouse game of finding and plugging holes between spam-hackers and wordpress developers. If you're running your blog at wordpress.com, you don't have to worry about this.
