I am newly licensed and broke as hell, I spent all my money on getting licensed! I was advised by my manager to join my local college alumni chapter, attend the local board of Realtors meetings, join a BNI and buy internet leads. I am looking for more ways to generate quality leads for free, if that is possible. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Smoffett - not sure what line you are marketing, but I have started out part time independent and made up my own set of fliers for health insurance. Started out placing them at approx. 250 homes, got 6 calls and wrote 3 deals. Figured that was not too bad. Have been going to business to business, but this has been a slow process so far. Are you familiar with your products? Its a must !! Any larger CAPTIVE companies in your area that can start you on a salary? Met Life, NY LIFE etc ?
Find someone to help you locally, it helped me !!
Good Luck ....

Do you have many bills? If so and you want to make it you better move back in with the parents. If you are already broke its going to be an uphill battle until you get a marketing strategy(s) down and learn your products.

Buying leads right now would be a bad decision...IMHO until you get some training and time under your belt

Free leads are the people you know and the people they know. That will about exhaust what is free when it comes to marketing. I will say this, if you have a business that you market through, you may want to look into getting financed through a bank. That's how I started, but banks aren't in the best place right now. Zip me a message if you have specific questions.

You should get a job that pays your bills first.

Then Cold Call by telemarketing or F2F .

You are not alone. Find an agency to provide free qualified leads and leverage the agency to get yourself started. At least you get some business with smaller commission. You should first exhust your friends and family first, since it is the free leads you have. When you on your firm foot, then switch to high commission and pay your own leads.

Damn Clint - 2:15 in the morning? Doing occasional health when I run into it, but mostly med supp's and FE. Could not deal with chasing after health prospects that rarely get OFF the pot and make sane decisions. Could not imagine doing health only with the way things are going.

Definately prefer working with people that NEED me.

New guy here. Haven't been licensed yet but will be taking the FL-215 for Life, Health and Variable Annuities this coming Wednesday. Great info on this board and very happy I ran across it. Being that I'm new in the industry I'm a little dumb with the acronyms here so could some one help me out with CPS & BNI?

With current economy, definetly a longer "gestation period."

BNI is business networking international; a group whereby you join and give/get leads and pay a fee.... caveat emptor.

Corrections...not leads they are "supposed" to be referrals.
Though, through my first 6 weeks, my first referral was actually a referral and my next 4 referrals were actually leads.

If you are that broke I would get a job in the evening doing some part-time work and focus on insurance during the day. I know a lot of people who have done this for the first 6 months or so. Good luck!

Well most "Guru" status will say buy a list and call all day. Others will say walk and talk all day. Of course Chumps buys and uses leads very well, others use dialers very well, others sell from the webiste very well and the list goes on.....Go wide and deep....find someone that will start you off.

If you just spent all your money on getting licensed ...

DO NOT BUY INTERNET LEADS.

If you want to generate quality leads for free or next to free, you will need to do b2b or telemarket.

1st Click Here to see just some of my free ideas.

2nd You can email me at markcrosenthal@aol.com and I will send you a ton of free stuff that might help you.

What you need to do is to copy what other agents did when they 1st got started selling insurance. Don't reinvent the wheel. Talk with at least 20 agents that are successful now and see how they made it.

I still hear my father screaming at me about " SEE THE PEOPLE, SEE THE PEOPLE AND SEE THE PEOPLE"

You have to find clients that have a problem and then fix it for them. Find a niche Market.

I can take some time with you and share with you some ideas and see how I can help you.

This forum is full of great ideas and people. SPend some time looking around on this forum.
