Dan
No cheating or reading ahead
Just pointing out some things that might be "useful" to a new agent who is apparenly already working with a BSCA RSM. And BTW, DME is John P's area, not mine LOL

Of course.
Anthem: best claims payer, loose underwriting, good plans at lower cost, Blue Card program on PPOs, great network and the Share plans have a combined in/out of network OOPM very low. The best carrier at maintaining HIPAA rates and minimizing the annual increases.
Shield: good networks and formulary, low price points on newer plans, good network of providers, tier 3 coverage on all IFP plans for Rx (non-formulary brand), Blue Card Program on PPOs
Aetna: great and loosy-goosy underwriting, competitive pricing on PPO plans, good formulary, national presence
Kaiser: excellent preventative care, good cost containment, Rx is great they basically give you gobs of the medication, friendly and patient-oriented
HNet: great HMO networks, bigger than Anthem or Shield. Not a PPO carrier really, but good HMO plan.
UHC/PacifiCare: again good HMO plans, really an HMO oriented carrier. This one is harder to say good things about since they got hit with a $1.2B fine last year for bad claims practices
Re: Build and Automate Your Agency OnlineGo to Top
Chumps from Oxford. Thank you for your reply. I'm sure there is something of value elsewhere on this forum but this is the only place I have been so far. I do not know who "Val" is, as most everyone seems to be hidden behind psuedo names and pictures. I assume Mr. liuag has his actual picture posted as "greensky" commented he knew of him and it is also on his book cover. I see a Dave020 if that is who you are referring to, but I only received an accusation when he didn't find my name registered, without getting any other information or asking any questions and also maligning Blue Shield that I am not even going to work for. I just know someone there. I don't know anything about Mr. liuag's license as Dave does or where to get that information, but is it possibly listed another way?
It would seem many are simply attacking Mr. liuag without cause and simply for the sake of doing it. I don't see anyone giving an opinion about the book positive or negative.
I am moving into the insurance business at the recommendation of a friend of mine at Blue Shield and 3 others who have recently become agents elsewhere. I do however find the unwarrented hostility here disconcerting and not saying much for this industry, at least as to how it relates to this particular forum.
On my first visit I have however been accused me "being" someone else, another radically misquote what a book sells for (I know what I paid and I just rechecked the site), accuse Mr. liuag of being a "jerk" when all I see here is a book description. Another stateing "he sells so much insurance he wants to sell a book on selling insurance", (which I find a brilliant marketing move, to use what you know to educate and diversify), asking if Mr. liuag "sells in his pajama's" (which if he has figured out how to do that, I would like to learn). Someone else assuming that because they have located an ip they know where someone is located. Someone else accused me of not actually going to SD because I am posting from "Southern Cal". I am 95 miles east of los angeles and closer to San Diego. Drive farther to a congested place like LA or closer to beautiful SD? San Diego is "Southern Cal". The same person speaking negatively about Mr. liuag and accusing me of being "his mother"? I thought this type of stuff was on MySpace or some other kids site, not on a business related site. Disappointing as this site came highly recommended.
Considering I haven't seen any other forums suggested I believe I will close here and leave Mr. liuag to this blood bath.
I just liked the book...that's all.
Thank you Dave020 for offering something useful. I have copied and printed it.

"he sells so much insurance he wants to sell a book on selling insurance", (which I find a brilliant marketing move, to use what you know to educate and diversify),
One has to wonder where he is selling if, according to Dave, he lacks a license in CA.
FWIW, Dave020 is one of the most knowledgeable and credible resources on this forum. When Dave speaks (or writes) you can take it to the bank.

Rick was good enough to send me a copy of the ebook. Like other "how to" books, I was prepared to review it and deem it worthless.
However, it's really a great primer for the new agent and has some intersting information for those of us who might be a little more "seasoned." Lots of links to products and other items.
It is not a book on how to build a website or SEO. But it is a great tool for those agents looking to move forward in the industry.

Re: Build and Automate Your Agency OnlineGo to Top
One thing that comes to mind with all of this topic of internet marketing and the like, is that often the most effective web sites are not those with brilliant design, fancy graphic, or visual media.
I know that he is not popular with some on this forum (old timers) however I still hear from tech support people at the carriers that he has the best and most effective web site in California.
If you want to see what really works, visit this site:
It's not pretty, as a matter of fact I find it to be a bit ugly and overloaded. But the carriers swear that this is the best marketing web site in the state.
I have good stats every month but I bet Oleg's dwarf mine. I would not give it credence from him (only because it is subjective) but when the RSMs and carriers are all going on about HOW EFFECTIVE his site is and how much business it produces, that is something to consider.
All of the fancy stuff is fluff, content sells and Oleg's site, even in it's lack of beauty to the eye, is very very effective.
Save the $$ and just look and learn from his site.

It will help you when you get up and running. We have very few carriers in CA for individual & family health, and each is very unique in how they approach each case.
I have no problem with Rick and his course/book/whatever, I just think there are ways to learn it for free that might be more effective. As I posted above/below (depending on where this thing finally ends up), you need to look at sites that are really doing the job of selling insurance as opposed to ideas about it. Oleg's site is one the tech support people at places like Anthem show to agents and RSMs on how to create a valuable marketing site. It works, too.
As with all new CA agents in health, feel free to call me for help, advice or just to say how much you hate carrier X that day I am alway available except for Rick (Greensky) who never invites me to the luncheons and needs to have them at Marie Callendars instead of Fudgepackers!
