California boosts income tax collection by 10 percent
Starting next week the state of California will be borrowing money from....well, every working resident to help ...
I wonder if one day the Socialist Republic of California will finally figure out that they can't give benefits to people who don't work or don't deserve it and reward hard-working people, especially business owners.
A sad state of affairs in that state brought on by years of liberal policies and anti-business strategies.
You are telling us that Maryland is more conservative than California? With all those hated Federal government employees living there? Are you saying that an arch-con could win in any district in Maryland?
And do explain how Maryland's state finances are so terrific these days.
California is going to need a wall on the eastern and northern borders, not just the southern border. And that won't be to keep people out.
Just got the tax bill for our house in KY - $2,000 for the year. The house is half again as expensive as the one that we left in Canada, and the year we left Canada (1997) the tax bill on that one was $4,000. You do the math.
I'm guessing CA's property taxes are closer to Canada than KY, what do you think?
But then those first edition "Johnny Has Two Mommy" public school text books don't come cheap.
The nice thing about KY is we don't have to worry about all the nuts from CA moving in here because they think we're all gun toting members of the KKK. That kind of public image keeps out all the liberals that would ruin Shangri-La.
So you keep up the good work Al, we're counting on you spreading the word that KY is the last place in the U.S. you would want to live.

Here is our house. We just got our property tax bill, $2119. Do you have indoor plumbing and electricity in Kentucky yet?

I don't know anything about the taxes in KY. No one with any intelligence that I know lives there.
But then those first edition "Johnny Has Two Mommy" public school text books don't come cheap.
As opposed to those "Mommy is Daddy's Sister" texts in KY?

Kentucky as "Shargi-La? You've obviously not been to the West Coast in a long, long time. Nobody on the planet would trade San Diego for anywhere in Kentucky for all the money in the world!
So you keep up the good work Al, we're counting on you spreading the word that KY is the last place in the U.S. you would want to live.
The last place is a tie between West Virginia and South Carolina. Kentucky is the second or third wost place in the US to live. You guys can't be #1 in anything other than illiteracy!
I took LSD and psilocybian and of course a fair share of cannabis, but I don't recall frying my brain on anything called SDA. Of course the fact that I can't recall may be indicative that my brain was fried on it!
I feel sorry for people who often think like Rivers (but maybe not him personally) who never did any drugs... because they stay stupid their entire lives. The rest of us went through our stupid phase and got a whole lot smarter as we aged.

Al you have a palace, how lovely.
What's indoor plumbing?
I don't know anything about the taxes in KY. No one with any intelligence that I know lives there.
Al, what a kind thing to say. Everyone on the board knows you are such a thoughtful individual, just like all the other liberals. Should I name a few famous ones?
As opposed to those "Mommy is Daddy's Sister" texts in KY?
Al, whatever would you be referring to? Is this just another one of your compliments I don't understand?

Gee, I thought you lived near Sacramento. The thing I really enjoy about San Diego is the traffic. I just love to wait for hours on the freeway, it gives me a chance to listen to all the golden oldies.
The last place is a tie between West Virginia and South Carolina. Kentucky is the second or third wost place in the US to live. You guys can't be #1 in anything other than illiteracy!
Al, does this mean we can expect you to stay out of our state? Because that would be just wonderful if you would do that.
And last but not least, perhaps you could explain this to me when you have a minute. Cause I just don't understand what it means:
I took LSD and psilocybian and of course a fair share of cannabis, but I don't recall frying my brain on anything called SDA. Of course the fact that I can't recall may be indicative that my brain was fried on it!
Wow, I would have never guessed.

The fact of the matter is that nobody in CA or the enitre country is happy about the tax surge. It's becoming very difficult for businesses to operate out of CA and daily hundreds are moving.
This is not rocket science on the state or Federal level; you can only spend what you take in. Period. States and the national government know exactly what they take in.
All programs should be targeted to increase the job base which means dumping money into education and anything that gets people working. When people work the gov't collects more taxes. When people work more money is flowing in the economy.
That means a pro-business approach. There are only two groups of people under age 65 who should receive a check from the gov't without working:
1) Physically diabled
2) Mentally disabled
All other forms of assistance should be temporary; food stamps, welfare, etc...2 year max and it's done.
Our school systems should be state of the art. Our tolerance for kids to interrupt classes should be zero - kick them out. We are allowing bullies and drug dealers who have already given up to trash our city school system.
I went to a public high school. If you were caught fighting it was suspension. If you fought again it was expulsion. Not a lot of fights in my school. If you interrupted class your parents got a call. Did it again? Dismissed from class - parents called to come pick you up. Again? Expelled.
But "we don't want those kids on the street." Yes we do. Go ahead and commit that crime and off to jail. Mission accomplished. I'd want those kids on the streets any day of the week as opposed to creating a toxic environment for the kids who care in class.
How much do we spend on the war on drugs, crime and welfare? Take a fraction of that and dump it into education and watch most of the problems go away.

Wow. An arch-conservative with a sense of humor. You don't find those around here very often! I'm told your hero Barry Goldwater (whom I once met in 1964 for 10 seconds!) had a sense of humor but I can't recall one funny thing he ever said.
A whole book was written on LBJ's humor.
Let's face it. Arch-cons are not fun guys. When I think of a arch-con I think of a guy who knows a hundred ways to have sex... but doesn't know any women!
Anyway, thanks for the smile. I've never seen any self-deprecating humor from an a-con. My guess is that on Christmas day all the lib/mod kids on the blocvk got footballs. A-cons got brief cases!
Al, I see your neighbor across the street spared no expense on that fine metal fence.
Tell me about it. He is a highly decorated Vietnam War vet who came home... um... not quite the same way he left. I don't know his politics but he is a survivalist, says he has a large arsenal of weaponry, and has the only fenced in yard WITH an electric driveway gate in the area. Part of it is to keep in his 3 Chow dogs (and they are mean!)
Years ago he had wooden slats in the chain-link fence which looked pretty good... but most have rotted away.
He and his wife have been good neighbors for the 28 years I've lived here... they keep to themselves and don't cause anyone any problems. They come to the block parties we have once or twice a year and are always cordial. They are very wealthy... his family had a major construction company and he inherited a lot of money (and the biz which he closed.)
Al, if I may get personal for a moment, you are one unique dude.
You go from a incoherent rant and within minutes to a cogent and almost touching conversation about a neighbor's fence.
Your humor is mean-spirited. Yet, the Mommy is Daddy's Sister book crack was funny even if your purpose in making the crack was to demean many millions of people you do not know.
I hereby bestow upon you the Rush Limbaugh award for being an instigator through the use of hyperbole. This puts you in good company since you have learned your techniques from the master. I leave you with a smiley face so you will know I say this in the spirit of good humor.
