Earlier today, one of football's largest legends was laid to rest about 30 miles down the road from me in Grambling. He was only one of a few people in Louisiana that has been bestowed the honor of laying in State at our capital rotunda. He was loved by people of all races and walks of life in part because of his humility and respect he showed others. He once said that his greatest accomplishments in life was being married to one woman and having one job for over 56 years. He also said that he tried to teach his players as if they were going to marry his daughter, WHAT A MAN!!!
If all people(myself included) were like Eddie Robinson, there would be no racial tensions in this great country of ours. When someone would talk to him about coaching the first black quarterback in the NFL, you could tell he was uncomfortable because he was not trying to coach the best black athlete, he was trying to coach the best American athlete.
When I went to La.Tech University(located 4 miles from Grambling) I had a class with Karl "the mailman" Malone and he too is a great asset to this area, a man of true integrity and honor.
Anyway I just wanted to pay my respect to a great man.. I love you Coach and you shall be missed.
