Cold-calling & Statistics & Expected Results

Well, once in a while I have to cold call. Sigh.

I will be cold-calling seniors screened out of the do not call list. I am calling from a list screened also by age and income.

It has been years since I've had to do this. The last time I did it I kept good records. If I dialed 52 numbers I would get 30 contacts and make 1-1 1/2 appointments per hour.

Does anyone know if these stats still hold true? Thoughts? Comments?

I don't cold call much, so I'm a lousy person to give the answer to this... but hey, not knowing an answer doesn't stop anyone from giving an opinion, right????

Cold calling is very unique. The responses vary a LOT by person, much more than probably any other factor. Geography tends to play a big part in this, with major metropolitan areas probably much more difficult than more rural areas (my guess, I can't prove this).

If those are the numbers you achieved before, you should achieve them again, they at least look somewhat realistic.

Dan is correct, it will be different for everyone, between you, the area you are calling, the days/times you call and the list you are calling from. Best bet is to keep track of your results, and work on improving them.

It was the most profitable thing I've ever done......but it doesn't mean I enjoy it.....I just wondered if it was harder now in this economy.............
