Contemplating becoming an agent with Cornerstone America, a Division of Mid-West Nati             Go to Top

Could someone please tell me of any experience they may have had as an agent with Cornerstone America, a Division of Mid-West National Life Insurance Company of
Tennessee?

Obviously, I am newly licensed. I was invited to a group interview on Friday; where it turned out that I was the only one currently possessing a valid Life, Health and Annuity License. I was not aware of the company name until I arrived since the e-mail sent to me was signed by an administratvie assistant followed by the Brokerage name.

The agent offered me a position and told me that I would need to pay $299 by credit card, only, for the background check which I did since the opportunity seemed fantastic (leads provided, products with an A rating, etc.).

Unfortunately, when I got home I proceeded to do a google engine search and found a significant amount of disturbing accounts regarding this company; particularly on a site called "rip off.com".

Please, please respond with any information or advice that you can give me. Thank you.

Well, usually anything with a fee that high is a rip off, it only makes money for the person collecting the fee.

Maybe there's a way to try to get it back.

Sorry you learned the hard way, most of us have all done something like it somewhere in our lives.

This is where reluctance and buyers remorse comes from ya know?

I would try stopping the credit card transaction.

From the previous posts about Cornerstone, Mega, Healthmarkets, UGA, Nase, Midwest etc..... it seems many of the forum members were once associated with one of these wonderous institutions of lower learning. Your question may be better answered by asking if any one of them would EVER work for these companies again?

I worked for them for a few years, well their sister company UGA, but they are the same thing, selling the same products. They do have better products out now, and better products on the way. I was able to learn and get started there, but I would NOT recommend them. So many agents end up losing money going there, they have a tremendous turnover with new agents. I know, I was a successful district manager and watched many people come in and leave more broke then when they started. Only the guys who have been there many years actually make big bucks. Best bet is to find a local agency and work for them to learn about selling insurance. Another plus is you get to help clients by choosing the best carrier for their needs....you are not trying to sell one product to every customer. Best of luck to you.
