Coventry One in MD             Go to Top

Met with Coventry One yesterday - interested in ways to get more business in the individual market.

They made a few great changes to accomplish that goal. First, they cut commissions from 20% to $20 per month per app.

Secondly, basically no one can get a GA deal. Their statement? We're trying to follow Blue Cross.

20% commish cut to $240 per app:

$3,500 premium X 20% = $700
$3,500 premium = $240
Difference: $460

Yes....a huge cut in pay is always the way to earn more business.

Corporate Death will become famous agent soon enough
Re: Coventry One in MD             Go to Top

Have they seriously lost their minds? Is that what they are doing in Maryland only or is that going to be a nationwide policy? Cant find any info on NC appointments. Maybe I should call them, but then again, if they are cutting everything to $240/app, I'm not going to bother. They will definitely lose their asses on this one.

They are a separate business entity in MD - doesn't apply to other Coventry One's.

More "enlightened" marketing from one of the big insurance companies.

They're too stupid to realize they're NOT Blue Cross.

Must be great to be on salary making decisions where you really don't care if business improves or not.

These days, the further you are away from the transaction, the more "at-risk" your job becomes....

They are a separate entity in each state. What they have done here, and apparently in other states, is to hire a bunch of folks away from BX and just assume that BX is the carrier to target.

It is like they believe Blue is the ONLY competition.

So far they are still paying a percentage here. Don't expect that to change. But who knows . . . ?

Coventry One in MD was paying 20% for two years - just knocked it down 2 months ago.

More brilliance from the "idiots" in the Home Office who think that their product is the be-all-and-the-end-all despite being the same as everyone else's...

Morons.
