Currently Indy, Thinking Captive, Four to Choose             Go to Top

Recently licensed in January, I started out as an independent Rep and I am thinking since I do not have a lot of cashflow to start with maybe I should go with a captive company to increase sales right now.
I have four interviews this week, Mutual of Omaha, Woodmen of the World, Efinancial and Penn Life.

Any feedback would be great on any of these companies would be great.
I have searched through the forum but would like more direct input

Thanks

I think you are wise to do that. Most new agents do not understand this is a business. If you were to purchase a franchise, you would have to have alot of investment dollars to get rolling. The insurance business is no different....

Since cash flow is an issue I would just say that Metlife, Western Southern, and American General all pay a salary during your training period.

Many of the experts here claim you can start as an independent with no money and cold call your way to success.

You mean it's not true?

I would stay away from MetLife, even though you get a salary at first. They don't pay very good renewals and wash out agents after they've gone through their families and friends for business. Not to mention the company has become sort of communists with the way they monitor business networking and block out all emails. Very uptight environment as Compliance has taken over the company.

I did work there for a couple of years and now I'm an indy.
Much happier and making much more money.
