My phone is ringing this morning (it is only 8:30 am here now) with clients (and prospects) who are scared. I've not seen 100 pt. ACROSS THE WHOLE FRONT PAGE headlines in the WSJ since 9/11. People are starting to panic (not a whole lot... but I can hear it in their voices.)
From a life insurance standpoint what are the "damage control" talking points? Besides saying "Don't worry" what else can we be saying (that is TRUE) to better educate our clients on what is going down in the financial markets.
Those of you who went through Ex Life and Conseco can provide some insight to us on this... I hope.
("Mr. Client I suggest you jump out the window" is NOT the right answer!! ) **

** When I was a boy we had atomic bomb drills in school. We were told to get under our desks and crouch down and put our head on or between our knees. I remember one 6th grader who said... "and kiss your ass good-bye!" I joke, but those were scary times.)

Just tell them that the Fed will continue to bailout these companies and we'll just see an increase in taxes to cover the expense...

I don't understand how anyone that owns their own business could vote for Obama... Well, maybe if you have an unsuccessful small business the welfare could come in handy...

After the veteran starting QB throws four picks and fumbles three times, why does the coach put the rookie in?
Been through several insurance company failures, first, client is insured up to the state guarantee, second never had a client lose money or benefits from a defunct company. Another company generally buys the book of business and it is business as usual. Had several phone calls today myself, trying to get an email from AIG but their main offices are in Houston.

You can still get through to a live customer service rep.... as far as being able to answer any of these pressing questions is another thing.

You are welcome to do so. The tax code does not require you to take any deductions. It simply authorizes you to take such deductions up to limited amounts.
