I am branching into Insurance work as a contractor. I am not looking for work here rather ideas. I want to get the work from Fire claims and maybe even other large losses. I have 16 years in the business between me and my foreman. I have thought about just going to agents and telling them to call me when there is a claim or a loss and I can go out but i assume that is not going to yield a lot of calls. Can anyone offer any advice?

I am up against allen keith construction who is a huge company and seems to have alot of hte business locked up. I hear that they are very expensive and difficult to work with sometimes. I can work within the xactimate estimates and make a living just fine if i can get some jobs.

I got into this because I had a house fire and the Contractors that were presented to me were poor choices at best. they were mega pricey and all wanted to cut corners everywhere and throw cheap **** in my house to get the job done. Instead I handled the whole project myself and came in significantly under budget and did it very quickly as well. On top of that I got the house put back together with the things I wanted and not cheap crap the GCs wanted.
