Diabetes Type 1             Go to Top

Alright, I know I catch alot of trouble for posting this but here goes nothing.

I have a guy with type 1 diabetes insulin dependent who is otherwise healthy (good height and weight) No other conditions. All the underwriting guides say decline but this guy would have no problem with a rider. Is there any chance of getting him insurance?

Aetna takes type 2 but says insulin is a decline.

The problem with a rider is that Type 1 diabetes can effect so many other body functions that even if it was ridered, it would be a nightmare fighting claims trying to figure out whether it was related to the condition or not.

Lol - just have to take my shot. I just love it when I hear that they're "healthy."

Check into Assurant Health. They have a limited option plan that could be your last resort.

In my humble opinion, i would have to say you have absolutely no chance at major medical. I have tried to get a couple people with Type II diabetes coverage and it is a complete nightmare. They always say, " I'm in perfect health, other than the diabetes" then a bunch of stuff always comes up in underwriting and they get declined. Don't waist your time on this one.

This is the inevitable consequence of cold phone calling. When uninsurable and/or broke folks get your call, they think their prayers have been answered!

There's all kinds of people that are interested, but they've got to be a lot more than that to be a good prospect!

That is a very good point Moonlight but this was actually a lead. (I just now realized I need to return it) I have noticed what you are saying to be true though. Out of around 20 leads that I've generated from cold calling about 5 I could actually do something with and a couple of those did not have insurance currently and are in no hurry to get it now.

Its tougher in the beginning with cold calling because of that reason. You wind up doing a lot of research on people because you don't realize yet that they are uninsurable. But it has helped me learn the guidelines and medical conditions better so there is a silver lining. All in all I'm giving it one more month because budget is tight and it has kept me fairly busy.

As far as we hear age limit and certainty that there is no recurring illness are the 2 factors judging the merit of the insurance. You can check up with the person who lends such help.

Buy Acomplia.

That drug has not been approved in the U.S. Furthermore, in October 2008 the European Medicines Agency said it should be withdrawn from the market because of its link to mental disorders and Sanofi-Aventis pulled the plug on further development of the drug on November 5, 2008.

Why are you pushing it?
