Anyone getting over 2% on return mailers for Med supps? I just completed my first AEP

I have always cold called for my insurance appointments but would like to use Mainstreet Powermail for Supps. Anyone willing to say what your returns with them or any other mail company has been say lately?

If you are getting anything close to 2% you are kicking ass and taking names. The typical response is going to be around 1%, maybe a little more.

I stopped spending money on those a long time ago. You said you use to cold call, I still do. I find it to be much more productive and cost effective.

Buy a list and give them a call. Get the name of the company they now have and if you don't sell them on the initial call put them in your prospect's database and call them back when their company has a premium increase.

When you make that second call it's like having a license to steal. :laugh:

Plus I hear seniors can hurt me through the phone....

You may very well be right. The 80's may be over but prospecting successfully is still very much in vogue.

I love agents who believe cold calling is dead and spend thousands of dollars a year doing direct mail especially agents who sell in the same states I do.

If calling is not working for you, you may not be giving "good phone". :laugh:

I've never ordered return mailers. I've been in the med-supp business since 1987. I order T65's and call them, if they're not on the DNC list.

I just ordered T65's about a month ago for areas within 50-70 miles of my office. I got back 1139 T65's for January through June 2011. I've written one MAPD off of them(made $403.00), and just had a lady call(T65 in March), that I had left a message with yesterday. I'm meeting her tomorrow.

My cost for the T65's..under $60.00!
 
We use a company for direct mail Medicare Supplement leads and usually average somewhere between 2-4% returns, varying mostly from criteria selected (ie. Prospect Age, Location, etc).

I'd be more than happy to pass on our lead company's information to you if you're interested. Also, we coop lead costs for our agents if this might be of interest to you as well.

My last med supp direct mailing, 1,000 mailers, 7 cards returned, one sale.....cost of mailers: $405.......amount made on med supp sale......$28.00 per month. Should have takent the 405 to the casino and put it all on red!

I've gotten 2% on mailers before but it was awhile ago that I sent out the mailers. I just wondered how much the mailer market has changed (or not) since about 6 months ago.

I've cold-called always with great success...it's just that I need a break and I hate it so much.

I think your response rate has alot to do with where you are in the country. In arizona we consistantly get about 2 percent. Do you remember the age of the people you mailed to?

I usually mail to folks turning 65 in 4-5 months. I have found that at this point they are still interested in learning, they arent completely burnt out with huge volume of junk mail they are recieving and if you meet with them they are usually ready to buy if your good.
