Save your money and build a web site. The people who call from the yellow pages also usually use pay phones

Of course, others may have had a better experience.

My numbers:

YP Ad - $44 per month 1-2 leads per year (tire kickers)
My site - $7 per month, 1-2 buyers per day at least

My ROI is much much better from my web site than even a full-page add in the yellow pages could provide.

That's awesome...actually the best ratio I think I have ever heard of...unless you are referring to buyer/people that called or buyer/people that made a purchase...2 sales per day. could you clear this up please

Thanks

Also, if you were selling health insurance face-to-face, which type of lead do you think will have a higher closing ratio? internet of telemarketed?

Suggest first to read guerrila marketiing. Mojo for dialers - legal emphasis, use proven exclusive telemarket leads, purchase internet leads from day 1 providers, flyers for sundays in the food advertisements for seniors, make 100 small B2B calls yourself 3 days a week AND FOR SURE sell multiple products with multiple carriers as an Indy. websites are another great tool, but not to put all your eggs into.

Of course...there is always the Internet Yellow Pages! If you do the free ad, expect a call a month for a year from them wanting to upgrade to a paid ad.

I've never received a call...ok, maybe one but that's about it really.

They used to call and leave automated messages on my voicemail. Then, a new rep would start the same process for a while.

WebYellowMonitor was used in this post.

I just got my phone call today from them, they really did not want to hear my "I just want my free listing at this time" mantra.

You'll have many more additional opportunities to fine tune that mantra!

Re: Does It Pay to Use Yellow Pages to Advertise             Go to Top

I never tried it, don't plan on it. Yellowbook has some of the most agressive sales people I've spoken with on the phone. First, they ask questions about your listing information for 5 to 10 minutes, tell you it's for a free listing, then try to back door their approach for a paid listing.

I told the last gal right away when she went into asking for my listing information that "I wasn't interested, have a good day, bye." No kidding, she called back that day over five times, then twice a day for two weeks, then random calls every few days. Never left a voicemail. I got to the point where I would pick-up the phone and hang it up right away. I respect people that call me, give an upfront approach, and let me decide. I don't respect companies that try trick you into a sale or giving them your time.

Sorry for the confusion, my site produces an average of 2 HIPAA application submissions per business day and often an extra case application either underwrittten or small group spousal.

I don't really track the full traffic, only the actual sales.
