Projected Rate Increases for Fully Insured

I am starting to see the projections of what kind of rate increase small and fully insured groups are looking at.

30%50% increase under health care reform.

No way does the small group market absorb these kind of rate increases.

It's just not going to happen.

I am at a lost of how one would even sell this rate increase to owner.

The only groups I see that could possibly absorb this (and/or will absorb it) are going to be older, white collar groups who want to see the business expense rather than a raise and pay for it out of pocket. In other words, lawyers.

We have seen projections for some small groups as high as 100%. Obama better get his tap dancing shoes out. It's going to be tough next year for him to keep pushing the "they just don't understand it" theme when business owners get the Obama enema in 2014.
