Sometimes we just need the visual aids:
Plumber with shattered arm left horrifically bent out of shape has operation 'cancelled four times' | Mail Online...
I don't see any problem. It is fashionable these days to measure the value of a country's health care system but measuring their longevity. That arm isn't going to kill him or shorten his life is it?
Perhaps by avoiding unnecessary care he is helping the system in a backhanded way, as it were.

This was from the comments section of that article:
In case anyone's interested in clinical facts rather than ignorant ranting about 'socialized' medicine, smoking is a well-recognised factor in slowing bone healing. If this man prioritizes his fags over his arm & there is someone else willing to give up smoking to increase the chance of a successful end result that is his choice. - J, Liverpool, 09/10/2009 07:53
So I guess in socialized medicine if someone else might have a better result then you then you get put to the back of the line...Boy I can't wait for this type of healthcare in this country.
You guys are way to cynical. I'm sure if he cut of his left arm he'd get to the front of the line. We have two arms for a reason.
Yeh, but how can he appear on Glen Beck like that. Glen Beck keeps making a call for arms. How the hell can you start a revolution with a call for arm. Ridiculous.

Look, it does not take a genius to know that national healthcare in most countries is far from perfect, and people will latch onto these stories. However, millions in the U.S. could have the same accident, and never even have the opportunity to have the surgery cancelled because they would never even get into the door of the hospital because they have no coverage.

Yup. Right you are. Fortunately we have all been promised the same coverage as Congress at $2000 reduction in premium from what we are currently paying. The Brits will be copying us soon.......err...or not.

You're are better off with medicaid in this country than with the national coverage offered in others.
Fact. I have family outside this country.

He could approach the many organizations that help the needy. People in this country that don't get treatment just don't look for it. In the city I live in there is a Christian Family Clinic and cost $25 bucks to see a NP.

Prove it.
Nice that you throw some numbers out, but without any facts.
