I'm about to sign with a company that offers only "exclusive leads" which sounds very appealing, especially after the long and convincing explanation I received from the owner regarding ROI, closing ratios etc.
After all my terrible experiences with other companies, I really didn't hear anything new, although it might be true.
I'd like your opinion and experience regarding these leads or similar ones.
You could say this post is "lead frustration 2"

No one can help you in that you have not given a company name or anything...many companies offer what they call exclusive leads (and most know that what they deliver is not exclusive) IMHO
I'm currently using a mix of shared and exclusive leads. My ROI is identical with both, but the urge to shoot myself is slightly diminished with the exclusives.
Oh, and be warned: "exclusive" leads are usually anything but. They tell you shared leads go to two or three agents and they usually go to eight or ten. Exclusives, they say just to you, but there's no telling how many websites that lead has visited.

How are these leads obtained?
IMO - if its not a telemarketed lead - there's little chance your buying a truly 'exclusive' lead. (Not necessarily the vendors fault - they can't stop the consumer from going to 6 more websites that afternoon, but it is what it is)

This wouldn't apply to tele-leads. Since most tele-leads companies "cold call" or "dial" for their leads - they are indeed exclusive. Web leads are different because the lead company has no control over the client.

I'm not giving the vendors a total pass on this..They advertise to the consumer an instant quote. They get the consumer to put in there info and then they tell them they will be contacted by an agent. I believe that in most cases that is the farthest thing from the consumers mind...some of these people may only be checking to see if the person they are working with is giving them reasonable info...But if the Lead vendor says enter your personal info here we will sell this to a licensed agent who will then contact you there volume goes way down and they don't make a fortune off us agents.

Hell, Tom, I wouldn't want anyone to accuse me of being less than gracious. How about you throw ten of those telemarketed leads my way and I'll compare them to what I'm using now?
If I can hit the same or better ROI with yours as I've got on mine, I'll come down to Savannah and buy you a beer, too. I think I'm going to be driving through there in the not-too-distant future, anyway.

Nick,
I would never ever work for free. I have to pay the tele-lead reps, so if I charge you nada - I lose.
I have many references that will testify to our lead quality. I ws in the lead business before becoming an insurance agent.
We have a simple program that works.
If you want to try 10 pre-screened leads for $200 - I'd be happy to help.
We charge a setup fee and a monthly fee which I will defer for you until you place a re-order and join the family.
If you are not happy and don't make at least one sale - I'll give you more until you do (this is verified by the clients on a customer satisfaction call.)

This is like a primer for a short-sighted business approach...
OK, your deal is great - but you're not willing to take any risk on it? All the risk should be on the buyer? Well guess what, if they get no return - they lose. But you've got their money - so you win.
Why should anyone else? Because you can provide some trumped-up testimonials?
If they're as good as you say they are, you should be trippin' over yourself to get someone to try them for free. The amount you would make as result would trump the cost for heroin-halfwayhouse-telelead reps you pay many, many fold.
It just confirms the fact that you are nothing but ahuckster. But we knew that anyway.

Oh, what the heck. I'll give you a call tomorrow and we'll talk.

Search the forum just to be reminded who you're dealing with. This guy has tried every way to make earn a living off the backs of others, and has been a poster child for quick buck artists since he first started posting here.
But, good luck if you work with him. His product might be terrific, but based upon his track record, beware.

Just an idea for you if you want the so called "exclusive lead" generate those yourself through your own marketing efforts. This way the majority of the people you talk to will only be getting contacted by you and that will be your "exclusive lead." I wouldn't trust online vendors very little if at all after buying leads and listening to some of the veterans on this forum everything I was told or read came true in some fashion or another.

O.K., how about a bit more info. on these $20 leads?
Detail filters?
Age(s)
2 person minimum?
Health screened?
Smoker / non smoker?
For $20 I'm thinking, most certainly exclusive,(and believe me I'd be asking the client about it) 2 healthy non smoking adults the younger of the two no less than 50. The older of the two no older than 60. Dependants would be optional and also healthy.
What say you Tom?

Hold up Moondog, what if he sells them at cost?
Yeah, that's it. An introductory trial offer of say, oh, I don't know $100 for 10.
Yeah that's it, break even on the intro., hook em deep and then they can love each other long time there after.
BTW - Heroin Halfway House ... nice touch.

You have to watch some companies that supply leads. They will first use the leads and then give you the ones that did not sell. So if you are not selling like you think you should, you probably have bad leads from the start. I have learned my lesson on leads from a company I am working with.
