In court filings, the State Ins. Dept alleges that Pacificare violated California state law over 1 million times between 2006 and 2008 after United Healthcare bought the company.

Has anyone run across this firm before? They're not offering anything new, but I found this statement rather troubling:

" We are leveraging the internet and web based tools to sell supplemental plans to existing clients and to acquire new ones. You can sell these products online NATIONWIDE (you need only to be licensed in your home state) via your own replicated website."

I wasn't aware that you could sell an insurance product across state lines without being licensed in the customer's home state. I supposed the catch might be that Litchfield doesen't consider these to be insurance products.

Perhaps I'm being an alarmist, but this looks like something that agents should steer clear of.
The policy was paid for by the church because the man is a pastor and the wife is a pastor as well.. They are looking at different options to save money. (I always assumed that you cannot pay for the premium for a plan with a contributions from your employer, etc..)
Is there any thing I can do to help the situation? How about setting up a group plan? it would be for just them, and does a church qualify as a business?

I've been pondering United Heath One's recent change in effective dates from basically choosing any effective date to 30 days out.

Then I got this:

*Coverage effective dates for Golden Rule renewable health plans will be the later of 30 days after an application is received or the date requested by the customer (but no greater than 60 days).

*Also, the 14-day waiting period for illness following the effective date of coverage will be eliminated, so there will no longer be separate effective dates for injury and illness.

Since they have decided to eliminate their policy of not covering illnesses within 14 days of the effective date they are protecting themselves by requiring 30 day effective dates.

I have recently started selling health insurance,...

I have recently started selling health insurance, I previously only dealt with life insurance. This is my first client and I need help.

It is a husband and wife, they were covered under the wifes group health plan with aetna, but she lost her job last year and was supposed to be called back in feb. of this year, but she never did.

She is 60 years old, the husband is 63. She does not smoke and neither does he. She does not have any health issues, but he had prostate cancer last year, had surgery in Nov 09 and everything is normal now (saw the doctor 3 times since surgery).

They are on a limited budget now, only can afford around 300 - 350/month she was given a quote of 200 and something dollars a month with a 60% coinsurance by another agent.

I am appointed with assurant, highmark, bluecross of nepa, celtic, and united health one.

I am still new to health insurance. I just dont know what to do about his cancer. Would he be rated or rejected?

If anyone can offer me and advice or assistance, I would appreciate it.
