What a parliamentarian jungle and nightmare that whole passing of Obamcare was/is.

Wait til the Republicans take control of congress which controls the budget. Even if they take the Senate (unlikely but who knows) they cannot outright overturn Obamacare but there are loads and loads of parliamentary and side actions that can be taken to derail it. Obama will still be holding the cards because he can veto anything but the repubs still will not have the votes to override the veto. On the other hand, the repubs will have enough votes to not enact the entire federal budget so they can send the entire government into a shut-down if they dont get concessions. And there are another hundred strategies right behind that to make life miserable for Obama. (I am not just stating melodrama here, as you may recall Newt and Clinton got into the whole government shut down thing)

Just when you thought Round 1 was as messy as it could get. What-a-Mess-Round 2 coming right up. Obamacare is going to end out all dressed up and no place to go. (dont get me wrong, the feds have their hooks in health care now in a way that cannot be reversed but it is going to be mess after mess for a long time to come. A half-arsed plan is worse than no plan at all and we have a half-arser right in front of us.)

Funny how Obama's biggest "accomplishment" was supposed to be Obamacare yet neither he nor dems running want to mention it out on the trail other than Obama making a couple fleeting comments as part of a recitation of things he has done. Everyone wants to sort of be happy about it but not touch it with a ten foot pole lest it blow up out on the trail.

What a mess.

The Fourth Great Awakening in American history continues to expand among those who drank the Obama Campaign Kool-Aid. Statistically, the most zealous believers in hope and change are the most profound victims of the Obama Hoax -- poor, young, unemployed blacks.

TIME magazine shilled for Senator Obama during the election campaign. Displaying near-religious fervor, the cover of TIME was a repetitive hymn for Obama the Candidate. But now, a TIME writer reports on a widespread national "sense of disappointment" with Obama the President.

TIME wasn't alone in mixing the Obama Kool-Aid for public consumption.

On September 4, 2008, former New York Governor Mario Cuomo, a guest on "CNN's Larry King Live"show, called Candidate Obama "a new kind of intelligence."

He's a new kind of intelligence. He's young and bright. He has a different attitude toward the world, a more cosmopolitan attitude. He's all the things we need. Most of all, those 80 percent of American people are right. We need change.

On Sunday, October 19, 2008, retired General Colin Powell, as a guest on "NBC's Meet the Press," endorsed Candidate Obama, calling him a "transformational figure" who would "electrify the world."

And I come to the conclusion that because of his ability to inspire, because of the inclusive nature of his campaign, because he is reaching out all across America, because of who he is and his rhetorical abilities -- and you have to take that into account -- as well as his substance -- he has both style and substance, he has met the standard of being a successful president, being an exceptional president.

Today, the only Cuomo in the news is Mario's son, Andrew, a candidate for the Governorship of New York now that the current black governor has been forced to the sidelines. And today, Colin Powell's name shows up on the playbill for a motivational speakers' troupe that features former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani, the man who ran the most bizarre presidential campaign in recent American political history.

The consequences to Cuomo and Powell for helping mix the Kool-Aid for the Obama Hoax are...none.

As for those whom White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs called the "professional left," they, too, are suffering through their own Great Awakening. They expected an even more spirited push toward a comprehensive socialistic agenda. But they'll survive. They may even flourish if Hillary challenges Barack for the 2012 nomination and gives them a new champion to satisfy their thirst for more big-government Kool-Aid.

The professional and semi-professional pols, the professional Left, the journalists who shamelessly shilled for the first post-partisan, post-racial candidate...all their lives go on pretty much as before. They rock 'n' roll on. The Obama Hoax hasn't been cruel to them. For some, it's been their life's blood. Their raison d'ętre. They're not victims of the Hoax; they were among its enablers. And now some are pretending to be its impartial revealers. But that won't play.

The most profound victims are poor, young, unemployed blacks who want jobs. They're suffering the most from Obama's economic policies, designed more to disembowel the U.S. economy than restore it. They got change, but not the hope they believed went with it.

Michael Scherer's TIME article features Indiana voters who supported Obama: a laid-off payroll administrator with 23 years at an RV plant, a South Bend orthopedic surgeon who's unhappy with ObamaCare, a disaffected "Democratic strategist" working on the midterm elections. The tone of the TIME article leads one to expect there'd be an 800 number given to donate to the individual recovery funds of the featured disaffected Obama supporters.

But what about the poor, young blacks who reached for the Kool-Aid enthusiastically, clasping its cup with both hands, gulping down the elixir of hope and change hard and fast? What's become of them? How are their new Green Jobs working out? Where are the success stories featuring their newfound careers in those shovel-ready projects that awaited only passage of the stimulus bill? A shovel was at work, all right, but it wasn't throwing earth dirt.

Summer job opportunities for all youth have declined. Teen unemployment is at an all-time high at 26.1% in July. But for those voters who most overwhelmingly supported Barack Obama, the employment figures are particularly dismal.

Unemployment among Black teens ages 16 to 19 -- while "extremely volatile from month to month," states the [August 2010, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics] report -- has been steadily increasing throughout the summer. In July, their jobless rate stood at 40.6 percent, up from 39.9 percent in June and 38 percent in May, compared with white rates of 28.7 percent (July), 23.2 percent (June) and 24.4 percent (May).

Teens by gender: In July, both Black men and women saw a slight increase in joblessness. Unemployment for Black male teens remains the highest at 43.7 percent, up from 43.2 percent in June. Black female teen unemployment rose from 36.5 percent in June to 37.1 percent in July.

So what will become of the misguided confidence that poor, young blacks put in the Obama Hoax that promised the chalice of hope and change only to serve up the dregs of an economy trending toward negative GDP growth in early 2011? Will their Great Awakening, if it comes, lead to enlightenment, or to an even deeper cynicism?

This is also an obvious move to play more to the center...even if it's right of center. He knows that he's lost his far left base. The far left wanted universal health care but would have settled for the public option. With the death of the public option, the left considers him to be a sell-out.

Obama shows up in Wisconsin yesterday to rally people for his new stimulus plan. Meanwhile Feingold no-shows and goes off to a separate labor day gig rather than appear with Obama.

Seems to be a lot of that going around these days.

Yep. Commander in Chief Obama said repeatedly that if Iran was on the brink of producing nuclear weapons then "all options were on the table."

It appears that that included the "do nothing option."

Look for Hillary to do something to distinquish herself from Obama here. If so, that is a leading indicator of what she is up to. She is going to want to run after having wimped out here. If she just supports Obama and takes it on the chops then that is an indicator that she is not going to run. She knows that this will be a campaign issue.

It is hard to tell though because weasels like Obama and Hillary start to finesse it by saying that "our best estimates are that Iran is still 12 years away" and unless you have your own satellite and intelligence unit operation in your basement how the hell can you push back on them.

You can see where this is headed. This is going to be a year of "how come we are still fighting in Iraq if combat troops have been withdrawn."
Yeh, I know the answer but some of these messages are a bit jumbled for the average joe to follow. Obama just made a big deal out of how we were withdrawing combat troops, except of course they participate by invitation only now, and oh by the way, there will be daily invitations. The original idea was that the Iraqis would pretty much have things under control but the Americans could help out in a pinch, or be part of the operation in just an advisory capacity. Problem is, I suspect that pinch is going to be almost hourly.

And of course in Afg we have a "are we there next year or not" type of leadership going on too.
The clowns in Iraq havent even had a government for six months. How can that be a good thing when you are trying to stand united against an enemy. Of course, some of them/most of them are working for the enemy so that is not good either.

What a mess. The country needs a strongman who is not a butcher like Saddam. Unfortunately he is likely to be a wacko like Muktar Al Sadr or whatever that rodent's name is. I would have shot that mofo a long time back.

Here in beautiful Colorado, a Democrat (Hickenlooper) who polls show would lose in a one-on-one race, will be our next governor because the damaged GOP candidate (Maes) and the interloper Tea Party Candidate (Tancredo) are both too full of themselves to pull out of the race. Good gawd, the radio shows here are absolutely hilarious with screaming, frustrated, pissed-off conservatives.

Newt Gingrich, who has virtually -- uh, make that "literally" -- no chance to win a general election and Sarah Palin (ditto) are both considering running in 2012, and one of them could be pushed by the hard right onto the ballot.

Harry Reid, who polls show would lose to a blender if the blender were a mainstream conservative, has a decent shot at beating the Tea Party babe (Angle) and must be hitting his knees and thanking the gods of politics every night before beddy-bye time.

And from sea to shining sea, Democrat candidates are falling over themselves to out-conservative each other for a chance to win. They're running against Obama. They're running against Obamacare. They're running against Pelosi. Holy crap, Wyden in Oregon voted for Obamacare before he voted against it. I've seen ads that say "The Conservative Democrat." I realize professional politicians are absolutely shameless, but it's a mystery to me why voters are not insulted when politicians pull this garbage.

I know, it could be worse, I could live under the government of Haiti or North Korea or Iran. But I'm constantly astonished by the egos and the behavior of our politicians. And the way their "followers" put up with their bullcrap day after day after day.

As little merit as I would accord this writing, it is Holy to it's believers and no Christian would condone burning a book. So despite Al's projections of Alabama '58 on my kind, this is wrong. I was looking through my local weekly paper and an ad from KeyBank dropped out. It essentially says anyone can cash a check at KeyBank even without an account. They will be charging 1% of the check value as a fee.

But what I found really interesting is the required proof of identity. Beyond the standard Drivers License or State ID card, they accept Matricula Consular cards....I can't remember if Matricula Consular cards are acceptable to open an account under the Patriot Act. If not don't you think they shouldn't cash checks based on an ID insufficient to open an account witht the bank?
