I'm 48 and would like to retire @ 60 - this might work.
But - it seems like a "job". Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hey I am getting ready to sign up as a Producer with an insurance brokerage. They are offering me 50% of renewals and 50% of new business comissions. Is this good. So on Home and Auto we get 15% of the company we write with, then I get 50% of that when I write it, and at renewal.

Does that seem to low?

There are no bonuses, or incentives. other than that. That is it.

Any help would be great. This goes for all lines. HOME , Auto, Life, Health, and Business. IF the commission on life is 100% i get half, if the comission on business is 15% i get half.

Hey Agents...
I'm an experienced Rep and Marketer and Licensed Agent in New York City but I've never (as an independent) been able to crack the insurance industry as an agent...

A "FRIEND" (A Sc#mbag, prick) called me last week with a "GREAT" opportunity (he would be making almost nothing on his "Goodwill"...)
1) He was going to do insurance postcard mailings for lowcost whole life insurance policies to lower income urban people that they would use as final expense insurance. I was supposed to run his appointments and aim annual premium at 4% of their annual income total...
He said the Avg annual premium would be About $900.00

2) A "Highly Professional" appointment setter would set the appointments for me, about 8 a day.

3) These clients are "Triple Screened" because If I don't write policies he makes nothing either...
(Out of his "Almost Nothing"...)
(I've been down the appointment setter route before...Is there ANY way to do this successfully?)

4) My Great Friend told me My cut would be 22% of annual premium (He had a "Mother Theresa" like demeanor on the phone...The prick was looking to average me at 200.00
Earnings per written client...BUT it gets BETTER!!!...
:D
Here is the BEST PART!!!...He was going to hold BACK 50% of my 22% commission and pay it to me at a "LATER TIME" as a BONUS!!!
(What A GREAT Guy...)
:twitchy:

Obviously this LOWLIFE P.O.S. Filthy Bald Dwarf TROLL
thinks I'm pretty stupid...
HOWEVER!!!
This is a possibly GOOD business model to do SOLO...

Could Anyone give me some direction on HOW TO Successfully implement this model for myself...

Please Respond:
THANKS!!!

We haven't done this in a couple of years so I thought it time we met again. Previous meetups ranged from 5 - 12 agents.
Since it's my idea, I'll pick the restaurant, day and time.

September 9, 2010 11:30am. Last person to arrive buys!

Carrillos Mexican Deli
19744 Sherman Way
Canoga Park, CA 91306

This is a real hole in the wall with great food and low prices.

In the past meetings, we've had newbies along with more seasoned agents. Not only have friendships been established, but it is good for independent agents to share thoughts, experiences and advice.
I also thought about having a couple of prizes to give away but folks would have to write their name, address, email, phone number on a card. It would be great to have their contact info and maybe set up some coffee dates. Ideas? Help!!!

Hi guys, Ive been looking to get appointed with BCBS of Florida to sell their medicare products and so far I've only received one offer. Im independent and I haven't been able to compare these rates.

All medicare advantage plans pay $270 with $90 renewal year 2-5.

Medicare supplements pay 10.125% with no renewals.

Now, to me these rates really suck but I've heard that BCBS commission rates always suck. Does anyone have something I can compare to in florida?

I heard a "consumer advocate" radio show host say insurance agents are not held to the same legal guidelines with their clients as an impartial, fee only, advisor. He claimed that there is some financial act (don't recall which one) that specifically names people like bank trust officers and fee only advisors as fiduciaries and holds them to a higher standard than commissioned agents.

This person already is prejudiced against commission sales people, claiming they are not objected, but I really believe he is stretching the truth here.

Years ago when I worked in the retirement planning market I was very much aware of my fiduciary responsibility under ERISA.

Is this guy totally off base, or is there a law that defines fiduciary responsibility that does not apply to insurance agents?
