I've never been with an FMO, but this 6-month, 12-month, or whatever restrictions placed on agents by FMO's is not a very sound basis for a relationship.

Aren't agents clients of FMO's? Clients should be treated better than that.

That's my opinion, but I could be wrong.

The best thing about this forum is that we now have a place to expose....errr....warn....err....inform others about the rats....errr.....scum...errr.....liars....errr.... FMOs we have had bad experiences with that are out there.

I bet they really hate this board.

It's fun to watch tow-the-liners come running to try and save the Czars.

I am was under the impression that if you do not write business for 6 months that you can be released from most carriers.
following up with this comment: if you do not write business for 6 months, can you be released from most carriers? Or does the time of release start upon the first request?

It usually is 6 months from the date of the last application although Mutual of Omaha is 12 months. Humana requires a release with 30 day notice and I heard that WellCare in now 3 months.

However, if you sign with an ethical FMO, none of this is an issue. If you are with RBI or Parker...well, you're on your own!

Thanks for the heads up. Being new agent I need this kind of help. Already been through the ringer just getting some FMO's just to send in the paper work to get appointed.

Re: FMO Warning - RB Insurance (Bob Bever)             Go to Top

RBI is my FMO for Wellcare. I didn't know I was signing on with RBI as I went through a GA in Ohio that was referred to me by a friend.

By the time I got my contracting done, I was with RBI. That was in March of this year and I was looking for something for the lock in period and the Wellcare Duet looked like a good deal for me. I was also contracing with a med sup carrier and an LTC carrier at the same time for the same reason. I didn't do a good job of scouting as I was going on a referral.

But, RBI nad my GA have been very good to me. I've written over 60 of the Wellcare apps since the first week of April and that's with the Duet being shut down in Ky and In as of May 12. I have been paid properly and timely. The Symphony leads at RBI are not leads, they are just names. I get leads and pre sets from my GA, whom, by the way, have been great to work with. That would be The Ohio Med Agency.

I've had a couple of commission problems with Wellcare and RBI stepped in and got it fixed. Even though I didn't do my homework, it all worked out for me pretty well. I have the same problems dealing with Wellcare that I have with my other MA carriers, Pyramid and Coventry. They all drink from the same trough and the agent is always guilty until proven innocent.

I have never even spoken to Mr. Bever. All my dealings with RBI have been with Heather.

This release thing is another matter. I'm sure that I could not get a release if I asked. I do the Coventry thru Parker and have asked them for a release, they refused. I signed up with Kingdom last summer when the MA got shutdown to do the SNP plans over in Mo. Nothing came from that and I asked Kingdom to release me and they refused. It's a good thing I'm satisfied with RBI or I would feel just like the OP.

BTW, are you guys sure that you can be released in six months? I was told that it would be 12 months on the Coventry from Parker. I haven't written a Coventry in 6 months. If I could sign on with another FMO for Coventry I would do it tomorrow.

I'm glad you're satisfied. However, there is nothing ethical about an FMO who refuses to release upon request. I have nothing good to say about Bob Bever or any marketer who thinks they own the agent.

Just for fun, ask him the following: "If I requested a release what would you say?" Anything other than "we'd like to keep you and if there is a problem, let's work it out. If you insist, we would of course release you because only an a$$hole would would do otherwise."

Anything other than that, and you will confirm what I already know.

Rick

I heard Bob Beaver flops around on the floor in every morning as he absorbs the seething eastern light of lucifer.

And I'll second the hardship imposed by a deceptive Beaver,
All I can say is what goes around comes around, he'll get his.

He'll get prostate cancer or something like that - you can bet on it...

Re: FMO Warning - RB Insurance (Bob Bever)             Go to Top

I have just been denied a release from Bob Bever as well and it simply comes down to "control issues". Why would any FMO want to force an agent to stay under their hierarchy when the agent doesn't want to work with them? I don't respect the man at all nor am I afraid of his bullying tactics. What goes around comes around to these people. Word of mouth is what will keep agents from making the mistake of contracting under RB INSURANCE & Bob Bever. I will be just fine not submitting any business under the company he holds my contracting on. It's sad really. I feel sorry for him. How miserable must your life be to make you conduct your business in this manner?
