My Experience with YIG and United Heritage Fixed Price Leads

I decided to try these fixed cost lead programs because
I like many others have been frustrated with lower
returns and erratic returns even if I mail consistently.
I ordered 100 leads from YIG.
With YIG you can only order by county and it is 0-40k
55-85 is what I was told. The mailer does say life insurance
on it but it is a very wordy mailer. I paid $29 per mailer
returned, I had to take all the ones that came whether
properly filled out or not. The leads came back in a very
timely manner. In about 4 weeks from the time I ordered
they started coming back. so far I have gotten back about 10
leads outside the area I ordered so I might not get much
from them. The rest are ok but I really prefer to mail by
zip to keep the leads closer together and cut down on driving.
I am not going to order from them again because I like
mailing by zip and I can usually get a mailer back for less
than $30.
With United Heritage I ordered 60 leads 2/1 to be mailed
2/10 for $28 each. They will let you order by zip which
I really like. The lead I used is a life insurance lead that is
much like the one I have using but I understand they
are no longer using it and have changed the piece.
This order was totally screwed up and as of today they still
owe me 2 leads. I will not order from them again.
They use RGI I think and going through UH really was
a pain. Nobody knew what they were doing and the leads
way too slow coming back because the regional director
screwed the order up when he submitted it.
My take on these per lead mail programs are unless
you are in a place that pulls less than 1.5 on avg skip
them because you lose control of where you want to
go and they really have not saved me any money.

Regarding the experience with United Heritage:

1) For the record, my regional director handled the lead campaigns for my agents, not myself. As reported by the poster, my regional inputted the lead area requests incorrectly; once caught, we dropped the original areas the poster requested and did not charge him for the leads generated outside of his area.

Point is (a) I acknowledged we screwed up the order, and (b), and the posters order was corrected it as soon as humanly possible.

We caught the problem late March, and soon after began dropping correct areas. It has taken the poster approximately 7 to 8 weeks to generate 99% of his leads (a one time order).

2) The lead piece the poster referenced was changed several months back due to several states expressing concern over the lead card's wording (a standard "state regulated life insurance" lead card mailer).

United Heritage changed the lead piece to be more generic, much like an E-64 type lead; in response, I personally discontinued using the lead program, and moved all my agents away from the program as I could not personally justify paying a fixed-price for a generic lead card.

Also for the record, due to a combination of Points 1 and 2, I have moved my all of my agents away from the carrier's lead program through another IMO.

Why do you hit enter in the middle of sentences? It's kinda hard to read ;)

Yeah, if it doesn't make sense, then why even bother! :nah:

When I was doing my own mailing, I could only write around $15,000 in AP a month. Getting on a good, fixed cost leads made it possible to double my monthly sales. In all honesty, no system is perfect for DM and there will always be glitches.

What you may not realize, is that YIG and RGI can only ESTIMATE how many leads will come in on their original drop! It takes several drops, before any mail house can figure out how many pieces to mail out, in order to get you a specified amount of leads, in any given area.

If you don't have the time, the money, and the commitment that it takes, in order to be on a Fixed Cost Lead program, I guess it's time to throw in the towel.

Thankfully, you can always go back to dropping your own mail and running leads when you have them, and sitting around when you don't. :swoon:

I was just giving my experience. Unlike some posters I do not recruit so
I have no dog in this fight. I do drop my own mail every month so
this was just an addition not my sole source of leads. My only suggestion
to producers is that they try it both ways and see what works in
their market. My avg pull is 1.75% and I pay $435 per thousand so
my cost per card is $26. David is correct he did try to get the situation
resolved and I am not unhappy with UH products. I am just suggesting
you might not want to use their mail program. I am also not promoting
myself as a final expense expert as some of the posters are. I am
just an agent who has sold nothing but fe for 8 years and seems to be
able to make a comfortable living without all the hype and drama
that seems to get injected into most of these discussions.

I also ordered 80 of the RGI leads through United Heritage, I ended up having to pay for 100 due to their overage clause. Of the three DM companies I use, these were by far the worst. I ordered 15K to 50K income and the way too many of the leads were in nursing homes. In MN everyone gets 3500 in burial coverage for indigent funerals and I wanted a higher income to avoid the issue, apparently it did not happen. United Heritage is a pleasure to deal with but these leads were a waste of time and money. Even telemarketed leads were a much better ROI.
