Finished L&H 52 Hours, Now What?             Go to Top

Hello All,
I am new to Southern CA, and I have recently hooked up with a small agency Selling Life of Southwest (LSW) 403(b) annuities to teachers. I am about 12 hours away from completing the 52 hour training requirement with Mike Russ, and have a few questions about the next steps of certification. Instead of calling my potential employer for clarification on the next steps of certification, I figured I would give it a shot here. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Questions:
1. What is the best cram course to study for the exam?
2. On the CA Dept of Insurance site, it appears there are 2 separate exams for L&H. I have heard conflicting info that they are now combined into one exam. Does a combined exam exist?
3. My potential employer mentioned something about me having to take an anti-money laundering course. Where would I go about taking this?
4. After completion of the 52 hours, what else do I have to complete before taking the exam?
5. How long will it take me to get licensed from this point (I will be finished the 52 hours on Sat 7/11) depending on when I am able to schedule the exam?

Ask your Mike Russ instructor/school. Getting this kind of information is what you have paid them for and it'll be much easier than asking a lot of people online.

Don't you feel like the instructors at Mike Russ spend half the class teaching you and half the class trying to sell you on something? Haha Take the crash course and study hall and you should do fine.

The 52 hour course should be it, make sure to schedule your test now though, I remember there was a two month wait when I scheduled mine. Also if you have a choice in the matter go to the San Diego testing site and show up early as parking can be hard to find.

It takes a few weeks to receive your license(or are they doing that paperless now?) You should be a o k as soon as you pass the test.

Good luck

Life and health used to be one license / one test in California. They are now 2 separate licenses, I assume that means 2 separate tests, though I don't know.

To be honest, you probably won't have much luck getting help on that part on this forum. California just changed a bunch of rules and most of the agents here would have been grandfathered in under the old system.

You're instructor should be able to answer this pretty easily.

Don't worry about cram study sessions. Simply do some online practice tests, then go take the test. The practice tests will get you used to the format of the questions on the test and make you realize that you need to read the question in full and all of the answers in full before you select an answer.
