Hello all this is my first post, I am newly licensed Life, Accident and Health agent in Mississippi. I am considering joining Physicians Mutual mainly for the their trainning and lead support.

I certainly do not wanna stay with PM for an extended amout of time, I would like to learn all I can learn and then go Independent and then sell health online like a several people on this board do.

So is it wise to start out with PM and learn all I can under them for the next year or so and then become Independent?

I have been reading this board for several months now, and it is amazing the wealth of knowledge that is on this board!

I would not recommend Physicians Mutual if you want to learn health insurance. They don't sell a real health insurance policy that I'm aware of.

No, they do not sell a real health policy. I know PM does serve the 65 older and under market. If you need trainning and assitance before you become andIndependent agent, I would imagine that PM would be just like any other career agent shop.

You would be like most and stay there for 12-18 months then become independent and triple your income. So why not let them foot the bill for a year or so work their leads and you will know when the time is and right and when it is then you will make some real money.

I know a retired gentleman that works for pm as his second career and he said if you submit 15 applications in a month you get a 1000.00 bonus. Does not matter if they are declined or not. I can put you in contact with him if you wish.

I say go for it.

I would highly recommend physicians mutual. Depending on the manager, you get wonderful training and good leads. The products are top notch for seniors. Some of the best med supps and ltc in the business. The life insurance is great. The underage health is not understood on here , obviously. Yes, it is an indemnity type plan, or a limited benefit plan, as opposed to managed care, but you get to choose your doctor or go with a ppo, but for the price and the amount of benefits, it is absolutely outstanding in the industry.

The underage 65 policies that some people come on here and tout as real health insurance or major med, really is not, any more. It used to be real major med, but now even the best of the managed care plans have limitations and are costly. If a person/client were to really understand all the options, physicians is absolutely a viable choice for many.

Plus, you are not captive at physicians, so you could have some managed care plans for back -up. But it is right of first refusal. You must sell physicians first, then if declined, sell others. I highly recommend physicians for training for newbies, absolutely. Who knows, maybe you will stay there.

Aetna approached PM a few years ago and asked them sell the part d plan ... They have now parted ways due to Aetna breaking contract and trying to steal PMs customers ...

No.. thats not what I meant, I was referring to non senior related health insurance plans. I have ran into several pm agents that when they are discussing health insurance and pm would not be a good fit they are offering Aetna and nothing else. Not Humana, Time, BCBS nothing...

Since PM isn't captive, they probably doing their own thing. Pm only sells their indemnity hms plan ... i just immersed myself in their training for two weeks and I learned that Aetna is not affilated with them other than Part D and that is now off the books since 11/14/08 ...
