Forgive me, I am computer challenged(if that is pc), how do I qoute someone from a previous post w/o the whole text coming up.
What I want to be able to do is take bits and pieces of different posts. I have tried every different way to do this but every time I do the whole post that I am trying to qoute comes up. I can cut and paste but it does not show who the original poster was.

I would show you but then I would have to kill you!
Actually it is not very easy the way that I do. I do it by highlighting what I want to copy, cutting and then pasting but you have to make sure that you have the appropriate starting and ending quotations for it to work. For example I built the following quotation which you did not say by simply cutting and pasting the quotation marks created from quoting you.
Does not help at all, but I do thank you for trying. Neophyte, does that mean I will be in the next Matrix movie? jk
Nope, that did not work for me, but this is the first time I tried...

Its quite easy to do that..
You click on the Multi Quote button of the posts that you want to quote, and then click on Post Reply button on bottom.
Here is a screenshot of that..
I believe this is one of Al's favorite button in this forum..
Quote -------- 2 pieces of paper with a + -------- paper with pencil
If you just want to quote that specific post - use the left icon and it will open to a box for you to respond.
If you want to quote several authors in the same thread - use the middle icon. Press this for each post your wish to quote from. When finished - scroll down to the last post - look under it - on the left side for icon that says - Post Reply - it has a white piece of paper and a yellow pencil. Click on it.
It will open a reply section with all your quotes you have chosen. Within each quote - you will notice:
This before the quoted text - {quote=posters name}
This after the quoted text - {/quote}
( had to change symbol from [ to { to make it work )
Whatever is in between these two parameters will show up as a quote in your reply.
Then - insert what YOU want to say under each quoted area:

Normally, I would not give away any of my secrets; however, since you are in PA, I will tell what I do if you are looking to just quote parts of a single post.
I click the Quote button (bottom right hand corner) on that particular post. Then, on the "Reply to Thread" screen I highlight those portions that I wish to delete. At that point I click the "Delete" button on my keyboard, and, as if by magic, all the useless verbiage disappears leaving only those portions you wish to appear. Then click the "Submit Reply" button at the bottom of the "Reply to Thread" screen and hopefully you have accomplished what you out to do.
P.S. You may add "smilies" before you click "Reply to Thread."
BTW, if the above doesn't work, take two aspirins and call you doctor in the morning.
