I have found this forum to be an excellent resource for a wide range of industry news and information. I'm glad I found it! Unfortunately, it's becoming more and more tedious having to wade through the messages and threads that are nothing more than personal attacks.
I'd respectfully suggest the following:
Trying to communicate with people who crave negative attention is an abject waste of time. They're not interested in mature & civil discourse; their goal is to disrupt & annoy, to infect the forum with anger & discord (I don't claim to understand the psychological motivations for such behavior). Nothing you can say to them will change this.
It seems to me that the easiest and quickest way to decrease this kind of infection is to simply not engage people like this. Once they stop receiving the negative attention they crave, they'll more than likely calm down. At some point, I'd think they would realize that they're just talking to themselves and look for another forum to get their attention.
Again, I'm not a shrink, I'm just guessing. But in an industry that requires positivity, professionalism and maturity, I think we'd all be better off focusing on what this outstanding forum is actually for.
OK, off my soapbox. My two cents, worth every penny!

I agree with you. There is a Bible passage that talks about what you are saying.
Proverbs 26:4Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
Or you will be like him yourself. 5Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes.
The point is you can't win by arguing with a fool. No matter what you say you lose.
Mac, that's a very good observation. I will watch for someone to come along and tell you to keep out of their fight. A bit like a man trying to break up a fight between 2 young women, they'll both whip you for interfering and then continue their own fight.
I've thought the same thing myself, but there's another side to this I believe. I think a lot of people on here simply like arguing about politics and bashing each other. It's possibly an outlet for many to let off steam at the end of a hard day, and otherwise just say stupid stuff they can't voice in the normal business world.
Freqeuently the posts are quite creative and very amusing -- even though they have nothing to do with insurance. There's an "entertainment value" in all this that I personally find somewhat appealing.
If the barbs and banty get too personal or something I'm uncomfortable with, then I just check-out to another subject, or log-off completely. There's no gun to my head to read some of the dribble that's sometimes posted.
Anyway, that's my opinion and obviously not fact. Take care.......
Who is Forum Banter, and why do you love him?
