|
You are correct, we are not a true democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic. But that statement bears even stronger that the poor, weak and minorities are protected. Constitutional Republics are created to check the power of the masses, and protect the minority groups from the whims and tyrrany of the majority. Constitutional Republics are built to provide checks and balances of power, and the control of that power, through democratic elections and separate divisions in the government (executive, legislative and judicial.) That argument would go against you saying that the poor shouldn't be able to vote!
|
I never stated that the poor shouldn't vote, I stated that those that are on the public dole shouldn't vote.

I apologize for mis-interpreting your statement. I'm done with politics for now!

O.K. John,
I'll take the bait. I have read "Evidence that demands a Verdict" by Josh Mcdowell as well as "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel. Based on what I read, the difference between Christianity and other religions is that in Christianity, there is actual evidence to support it. So much evidence that it is impossible for Christianity to be false. There is Legal evidence, Archaeological evidence, Prophetic evidence and Statistical probability evidence.
The statistical probability is what really put me over the edge. An example is Jesus. There were about 40 things predicted about him before he was even born. Like, he would be crucified. That was predicted 700-800 years before crucifiction was even invented. His birth place, was predicted before the town was even in existence etc, etc.
The chances of only 8 of the 40 things being predicted and coming to pass is so statistically large that Christianity has to be true. The example given was taking the state of Texas and filling it two feet deep with quarters. Then taking one quarter and marking it. Then drop the quarter somewhere in Texas and stir all of the quarters up with a giant stick.
Then take a person and blindfold him. Put him somewhere in Texas and give him one chance to pick up the right quarter on the first try while he is blindfolded. He has a better chance of picking up the correct quarter on his one try than Jesus has of not being God. And, were only talking about 8 things predicted about Jesus, not all 40. That is why I'm convinced Christianity is true.
If any other religion has that type of track record, i'd like to see it. I want to go the Heaven when I die so If I'm wrong, please let me know where to turn to do some more research.

Hells Bells, lets talk education and the pathetic shape it is in! I mean do they even teach Civics anymore or American History? Most kids and young adults today don't understand the governence they are under or otherwise the history that shape this Nation. Hell most never heard of the Barbary Coast Wars and the War of 1812, both being significant and foreshadowed our greatness as a World Power.
Ps plus many don't understand that we have fought Muslims before but you know we did and in fact the Marine Hymn is all about it.
Quote:
From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli,
We fight our country's battles in the air, on land and sea.
First to fight for right and freedom, and to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title of United States Marine.
Our flag's unfurled to every breeze from dawn to setting sun.
We have fought in every clime and place, where we could take a gun.
In the snow of far off northern lands and in sunny tropic scenes,
You will find us always on the job,The United States Marines.
Here's health to you and to our Corps which we are proud to serve.
In many a strife we've fought for life and never lost our nerve.
If the Army and the Navy ever look on heaven's scenes,
They will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines.

Imagine a perfect solution to education and the devastating effect it would have. Say a plan got implemented where everyone had state-of-the art education and almost everyone went to college because the government somehow figured out a way to pay for it.
Great.....where do they all work? How many factory workers do we need? Well...no one wants to work in a factor anymore with that fantastic education.

Thoughout the Bible why is God so mad all the time? After all, he already knows what's gonna happen, right?

We're still a service society. For every one boss we need thousands of worker bees. Turn those worker bees into highly educated people and our society collapes.

You'll have to name some of those situations before I can answer them. But, if you don't like the Old Testament. You can read what Jesus did in the New Testament, he wasn't mad very often.
