Common Mistakes by Rookie Agents

Re: Common Mistakes

What is the most common mistakes made by newbies or rookies? Maybe one that you made.

Thanks

Tons and tons of mistakes new and old agents make, but here is a list to get you started:

Not trying enough different lead generation techniques.

Spending too much time talking at clients.

Getting "commission breath" from needing money.

Unrealistic expectations.

Not working enough.

Spending too much time "learning" (foruming) and not enough time selling.

Spending too much time focusing on building relationships with people in the hope of getting referrals (because they'll rarely if ever send you as many as you think you'll get).

Believing that what's working for one agent or agency in one area will work in every area.

Having the wrong portfolio of products.

Getting too caught up on price vs value.

Not learning a true sales process (warm-up ~> fact finding ~> presentation ~> close ~> application ~> cool down ~> referrals).

Not ask for referrals from every appointment, not just the ones that buy.

Being afraid to spend money marketing.

How's that for a list?

What do you mean price vs. value? Are you talking about products.

I am studying for my licence now and doing the forum thing and book reading while I work on a buisness plan. I am a information junky and believe that alot can be learned from others mistakes. I cant see into the future but I can learn from history.
thanks again

The number 1 mistake is spending too much time on here.

Number 2 is making friends and taking advice from anyone that lives in California.

Number 3 is..... Well I've only made 2 mistakes. :)
